We had the opportunity to visit Dinh Lap commune right at the harvest time, when people were busy harvesting the spring crop and preparing to sow for the new crop. On the corn field, Mr. Ha Van Nam, Zone 8, Dinh Lap commune was quickly harvesting, he shared: This spring crop, my family planted 8 sao of rice (mainly Kim Cuong rice variety) and 3 sao of corn. My family has finished harvesting rice, the yield is 2.8 quintals/sao and started harvesting corn, the yield is estimated at 3.5 quintals/sao. By early August, my family expects to finish harvesting all the crops to start the crop season.
In the Dong Phu village field, Khanh Khe commune, Ms. Luong Thi Hy's family is also focusing on harvesting spring rice. Ms. Hy said: This spring crop, my family planted 4 sao of rice, mainly Khang Dan rice. In the past few days, taking advantage of the sunny weather, my family mobilized labor to harvest rice. Currently, the family has just finished harvesting spring rice, with an estimated yield of about 2.5 quintals/sao (an increase of 0.5 quintal/sao compared to last year's spring rice crop) and is preparing the land for planting the summer-autumn crop.
In the spring crop of 2025, the whole province will plant 43,028 hectares of various crops. Of which, rice is estimated at 14,562 hectares, corn is estimated at 13,618 hectares, tobacco is estimated at 2,668 hectares, chili is estimated at 1,222 hectares... Similar to Mrs. Hy's family, these days, farmers in Khanh Khe commune are also rushing to harvest spring crops to ensure the production schedule. According to preliminary statistics of the commune, this spring crop, the whole commune of Khanh Khe planted nearly 400 hectares of rice, with an estimated rice yield of 50 quintals/ha; 328 hectares of corn, with an estimated yield of 52 quintals/ha.
Mr. Hoang Van An, Vice Chairman of Khanh Khe Commune People's Committee, said: To ensure production on schedule, the Commune People's Committee has deployed propaganda and guidance to villages to speed up the progress of harvesting spring crops. Up to now, farmers in the commune have harvested nearly 90% of the spring crop area. The Commune People's Committee also urged and guided people to harvest, plow, and clean the fields... to produce the summer crop.
Like Khanh Khe commune, people in other communes in the province are also urgently harvesting spring crops. Be proactive in the harvest season
In addition to urgently harvesting spring crops, farmers in the province have proactively prepared conditions to ensure crop production according to the crop calendar.
Mr. Ngo Van Chanh, Dong Heo village, Huu Lung commune said: In mid-July 2025, my family finished harvesting rice and corn. Immediately after the harvest, I quickly brought water into the fields, prepared the land, plowed for planting, and proactively bought seeds and fertilizers. This crop, my family planted about 4 sao of rice and 2 sao of corn. At this time, my family has completed the rice planting and is preparing to plant corn.
Similar to Mr. Chanh’s family, other households also harvested, prepared the land, plowed, and cleaned the fields to plant the crop. Along with that, people also proactively provided conditions for production such as: buying seeds and fertilizers at reputable agricultural supply stores; dredging canals, proactively providing water sources, etc.
Mr. Pham Ba Hanh, Chairman of Hung Vu Commune People's Committee, said: To ensure production development, the Commune People's Committee has directed the villages to propagate to the people to speed up the spring harvest and implement the winter-spring crop. Accordingly, as soon as the harvest is finished, the people in the commune have prepared the land, plowed and planted the winter-spring rice crop. Currently, the people have basically finished planting rice and are continuing to plant other crops.
To ensure the progress of the winter-spring crop, the provincial authorities have strengthened their direction and guidance to people on measures for harvesting and producing crops. Ms. Phung Thi Kim Khanh, Head of the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: To ensure the progress of the winter-spring crop on schedule, the unit has instructed the People's Committees of communes and wards to direct people to urgently harvest spring crops. Along with that, it is necessary to prepare the land, plow and bury the stubble, use biological products to help quickly decompose straw for winter-spring rice planting; regularly check and dredge intra-field canals, ensure enough irrigation water... In particular, focus on finishing the winter-spring rice planting before the beginning of autumn (August 7, 2025).
According to the plan, this year's winter-spring crop, the total cultivated area of the province is about 46,600 hectares. Of which, rice is 32,000 hectares, corn is 6,000 hectares, vegetables are about 2,800 hectares... Up to now, the estimated cultivated area of the winter-spring crop is 11,800 hectares. Of which, winter-spring rice is 10,270 hectares (reaching 32% of the plan); corn is planted about 920 hectares (reaching 15.3% of the plan); the rest are vegetables...
