On the afternoon of November 19, a video of a teacher crossing a muddy landslide to get to school was shared on Facebook, attracting the attention of the online community. Many people expressed their emotions at the hardships of teachers in the mountainous areas during the flood and landslide season right before the November 20 holiday.
The video captures the images of some teachers struggling to cross the slippery, muddy, red soil mountain road up to their knees. Surrounded by rocks and soil, everyone carefully crossed the red mud, following the narrow, muddy edge of the road. The road was dangerous and difficult, but the teachers still encouraged each other and persevered forward.

A teacher, carrying sandals in one hand and flowers in the other, carefully waded through the muddy road, behind another colleague with a raincoat covered in red dirt, also crossed the landslide.
Sharing with Tien Phong reporter, teacher Nguyen Tran Vy - Principal of Ngoc Linh Primary Boarding School (Tra Linh commune, Da Nang city) said that the above video was recorded by a person accompanying him when he and his colleagues returned to school.
Mr. Vy said he was on his way back to school after attending the Prime Minister's meeting with outstanding teachers on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day, November 20, in Hanoi . When he returned to school, the road was muddy and had many landslides due to heavy rain.
“The distance from Tam Ky to the school is 130km, but it took from 9am to 3:10pm to get there. The car from Tam Ky had to walk through the first landslide, then ride a motorbike to the second landslide, walk through the landslide for about 30 minutes, then continue on the motorbike to get to the school. It was still raining, there were landslides everywhere, so I was a bit scared even though I was used to the rain and the forest,” said Mr. Vy.

Despite walking for many hours and crossing a landslide, Mr. Vy still held in his hands the bouquet of flowers he had prepared to give to his teachers on November 20. “On November 20, I tried to bring flowers to give to my classmates to bring a little joy to the Teachers’ Day, to make it more fun and cozy,” Mr. Vy shared.
Having been attached to the mountains and forests for many years, more than anyone else, Mr. Vy understands and sympathizes with his colleagues who are not afraid of hardships and difficulties, silently contributing and spreading knowledge in the highlands. The joy of teachers in this remote area is that every day the students come to class in large numbers, diligently pursuing knowledge. The gifts for the 20/11 holiday are bouquets of wild flowers or bags of sugarcane that parents have just cut in the fields.
“I don’t expect much, I just hope that you will still go to school regularly, pursue your studies, and more than that, stay safe through the rain, wind, and landslides,” he said.
