Mr. Trinh Thanh Boi, Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers, said: Promoting the tradition of resilience and not being afraid of hardships, over the years, cadres and members of the Provincial Association of Former Youth Volunteers have always upheld the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, and actively responded to patriotic emulation movements. In particular, the movement "Former Youth Volunteers compete to help each other do business and escape poverty sustainably" has spread widely, becoming a driving force for members to improve their lives, contributing positively to poverty reduction and socio-economic development in the locality. Each effective economic model, each example of overcoming difficulties is a vivid demonstration of the bravery, will and noble qualities of the Youth Volunteers in the new era.
A typical example is Mr. Tran Van Luan, Tan Na village, Van Nham commune with a fruit tree growing model including 650 Dien grapefruit trees, green-skin grapefruit, longan and pink banana trees. In 2023, he also planted more groundnut trees interspersed with fruit trees. Currently, his family's income reaches over 400 million VND/year after deducting expenses, while creating seasonal jobs for 6 to 10 workers in the commune. Mr. Luan shared: In 2019, through training courses organized by the Association of Former Youth Volunteers, I learned about the benefits of VietGAP good agricultural practices, from which my family members and I focused on production according to this method. Production according to VietGAP standards not only helps my family improve the quality and value of agricultural products but also contributes to protecting land and water resources towards sustainable agricultural development.
Mr. Luan is just one of many typical former Youth Volunteers who have implemented the emulation movement to do good business in the province. According to statistics, the whole province currently has over 800 former Youth Volunteers responding to the economic development movement. Of these, 200 former Youth Volunteers have an income of 100 to 200 million VND/year after deducting expenses; 62 former Youth Volunteers have an income of 200 to 400 million VND/year; 3 former Youth Volunteers have an income of over 500 million VND/year. From 2021 to now, the whole province has developed 350 models of former Youth Volunteers doing business on a farm scale, creating jobs for more than 1,200 workers; the association at all levels has helped 64 members escape poverty. Currently, the rate of former Youth Volunteers with good economic conditions is 35.4% (an increase of 9.3% compared to 2023); The number of households with difficult circumstances is only about 30.
To achieve the above results, from 2021 to present, the Association of Former Youth Volunteers at all levels has coordinated to organize more than 500 propaganda sessions for more than 15,000 members on poverty reduction work, the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" to arouse the spirit of self-reliance to escape poverty of former Youth Volunteers. At the same time, the Association focuses on coordinating to organize training courses, transferring science and technology on animal husbandry and cultivation; supporting members to borrow capital, working days, plants, seeds, etc. Specifically, from 2021 to present, on average each year, the Association has coordinated to organize about 50 training courses with more than 2,000 members participating; mobilized 40 former Youth Volunteers with good economic conditions to lend nearly 400 million VND without interest to members in difficult circumstances to develop production... In particular, from 2022 to now, the association has coordinated to organize 6 field trips to learn production experience with more than 600 members participating. After the visit, most members know how to apply the knowledge and skills learned to their family's livestock and crop farming models.
Along with economic development and participation in movements, the provincial Youth Volunteer Force always upholds the spirit of “being brave in youth and exemplary in old age”. Every day, each former Youth Volunteer Force always actively promotes spirit and responsibility, is a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism and a shining example for children and grandchildren to constantly strive to study, practice, and actively work in production.
It can be seen that the silent and persistent contributions of the former Youth Volunteer Force have demonstrated their spirit of overcoming difficulties, their indomitable will and their steadfast patriotism. Thereby, they have inspired the younger generation with the tradition of patriotism, contributing to building an increasingly rich and civilized homeland.
