Yen Mo Promoting the role of party members in building advanced new rural areas

Yen Mo district strives to achieve advanced NTM standards by 2024. To achieve the goal, Yen Mo district has proposed many solutions, including promoting the pioneering and exemplary role of cadres and party members and the consensus and joint efforts of the people.

In the past, people in Hamlet 1, Yen Phong Commune (Yen Mo District) often only cultivated 2 crops/year with traditional crops such as rice, vegetables, etc., but now, they have produced 3 crops a year with many crops of high commodity value such as sweet corn, chili, potatoes, high-quality rice; converting low-lying fields to rice + fish models. In addition, people have actively applied high technology to production, gradually forming concentrated production areas in the direction of organic, safe, bringing high economic efficiency. Thanks to that, people's lives have been constantly improved. The economy has developed, people in Hamlet 1 have the conditions to take care of their children's education and join hands to participate in building new rural areas. Hamlet 1 is also one of 2 residential areas that Yen Phong Commune focuses on directing the construction, striving to meet the standards of a model new rural residential area by 2024.

According to comrade Nguyen Cong Doan, Secretary of the Party Cell of Hamlet 1, Yen Phong Commune, this result was achieved thanks to the drastic participation of the local Party Committee and government, the exemplary leadership of cadres and party members in land consolidation, actively applying high technology in production, and responsible participation in local emulation movements. The exemplary role of each cadre and party member has contributed to raising awareness, motivating and encouraging people to join hands and unite step by step to make Hamlet 1 truly a livable countryside.

The Party Secretary of Hamlet 1 also said that to complete the criteria of a model new-style rural residential area is not a matter of "overnight" but requires a process of persistent efforts, from the support of the State to the joint efforts of each citizen, in which the People are the main subject. Therefore, when implementing the plan to build a model new-style rural residential area, the Party Cell issued a resolution, identifying key tasks that need leadership, direction, and assigning specific tasks to each Party member. During the implementation process, the pioneering and exemplary role of cadres and Party members is promoted.

With the motto "Party members go first, the village follows", to have funds to repair and upgrade the campus and equipment for the hamlet cultural house, the Party Cell has mobilized each party member who is a civil servant or retired to contribute 1 million VND; each party member in rural areas to contribute 500 thousand VND. In addition to supporting funds, the Party members of Hamlet 1 Party Cell have become the pioneers in participating in converting crop structure, actively applying high technology in production; being exemplary and taking the lead in building a civilized lifestyle... The way of working of Hamlet 1 Party Cell has spread to many other Party Cells of Yen Phong commune, contributing to speeding up the completion of criteria for building a model new-style rural residential area and a commune meeting advanced new-style rural standards.

Comrade Vu Thanh Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Yen Phong Commune Party Committee, shared: In the process of building the new rural area, the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune have drawn many experiences and realized that if there are appropriate steps and methods, and if we know how to promote the exemplary role of cadres and party members, we will create consensus, thereby strongly arousing the people's strength to achieve the common goal, which is to improve the quality of people's lives.

During the leadership process, the Party Committees at all levels have required cadres and Party members to truly be the core force leading the way, especially in difficult tasks such as: site clearance, land donation for road construction, contribution of working days; development of organic agricultural production, application of high technology, ensuring food safety... "From the exemplary leadership of cadres and Party members, up to now, basically, the hamlets selected to direct the implementation of building model new-style rural residential areas have been actively completing the criteria, striving to complete by the end of 2024, bringing the total number of hamlets meeting model new-style rural standards of the commune to 3 units" - the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Yen Phong commune added.

Like Yen Phong commune, with many flexible and creative ways, suitable to the actual situation, many localities in Yen Mo district have been strongly arousing people's participation in developing organic agricultural products and focusing on mobilizing resources, promoting the construction of advanced and model new-style rural communes.

In many localities, cadres and party members, especially key leaders, have set an example, raised their sense of responsibility, and served the people. In communicating with the people as well as in their work, the majority of cadres and civil servants always maintain a polite and gentle spirit and attitude; contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of work, bringing satisfaction to the people. Actively propagating and mobilizing people to change the structure of crops and livestock, converting ineffective rice growing areas to new models that bring high value.

To date, the district has converted more than 916 hectares of ineffective rice cultivation to annual and perennial crops combined with aquaculture (an increase of 96 hectares compared to 2020). The district has 106 hectares of high-quality organic rice production; installed 23,000 square meters of greenhouses, net houses, and energy-saving irrigation systems to grow high-value crops, ensuring food safety; maintained 75 hectares of 4-crop/year farming model.

The exemplary role of cadres and party members is promoted not only to create a vibrant competitive atmosphere, contributing to accelerating the process of building advanced new-style rural districts, but also to strengthen people's trust in the leadership of party committees, the management and administration of authorities at all levels and the moral qualities of cadres and party members. From there, maximum resources are mobilized to build advanced, model new-style rural communes and model new-style rural villages.

By the end of 2023, the whole district will have 20 more villages and hamlets meeting the model NTM standards (exceeding the set plan), bringing the total number of model villages and hamlets to 52. The whole district has 2 communes meeting the model NTM standards (Yen Tu, Yen Hoa); 4 communes meeting the advanced NTM standards (Yen Thang, Yen Lam, Khanh Thinh, Khanh Thuong).

The appearance of the new rural areas in many rural areas in the district has changed a lot with the synchronous development of transport infrastructure, the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved. This is an important premise for the district to continue to make breakthroughs in socio-economic development, striving to become an advanced new rural district by the end of 2024.
