Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of International Hospital 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: “We have been promoting the good traditions of the Hospital. The achievements that you have made are a source of great pride, especially in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and in specialized fields such as organ transplantation, cardiology, cancer, and surgery. This is a strength that needs to be continued to be built and developed to enhance the brand of Hue Central Hospital.”

As a special-class hospital, Hue Central Hospital has a scale of over 5,000 beds, including 15 centers, more than 100 clinical and paraclinical departments, and nearly 4,000 staff and employees. Of which, there are nearly 200 professors, associate professors, doctors and over 500 other postgraduate staff. Advanced techniques such as organ transplantation, cardiovascular and cancer treatment or complex surgeries have all been successfully performed, making the Hospital a specialized medical center of the country, modern and on par with the region and the world .

According to Prof. Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of Hue Central Hospital, every year hundreds of new techniques are updated and implemented, the successful treatment of difficult cases always reaches a high rate nationwide. Especially in recent years, the Hospital has continuously made many breakthroughs in high-tech, specialized fields. With nearly 2,000 successful organ transplants, the hospital has become one of the major centers successfully performing the "heart, liver, kidney" trio of organ transplants, putting Vietnam on the world heart transplant map. Heart transplants are performed by a team of doctors, 100% successful cross-Vietnam heart transplants. In addition, the Hospital has routinely performed autologous bone marrow transplants; maintained routine 3D endoscopic surgery, single-hole endoscopic surgery and natural orifice surgery; microsurgical techniques, cosmetic surgery; assisted reproduction - surrogacy; coronary angiography and intervention, stroke intervention; Multi-modal, multi-specialty cancer treatment with modern accelerator radiotherapy system and many other advanced techniques.

Over the years, with great achievements in scientific research, the hospital has been proud to receive many awards and noble titles such as the Diamond title of the World Stroke Association; First Prize in the final round of the "Competition for laparoscopic colorectal surgery through recorded videos" organized by the Southeast Asian Colorectal Surgery Association in Thailand; Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award (VIFOTEC ), many high prizes at the annual Science and Technology Innovation Competitions of Thua Thien Hue province. In addition, international cooperation is also a prominent strength of the hospital with many large projects, not only contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment but also perfecting the infrastructure, changing the face of the hospital.

With such great efforts, Hue Central Hospital was honored to be awarded by the Party and State the title of Labor Hero in the Renovation Period, the First Class Independence Medal (2nd time) and many other noble titles. Notably, in 2024, the Hospital was the only unit of the Health Sector to be honored in the program "Glory of Vietnam".

In addition, many large projects have been put into use recently, such as the ODA High-Tech Center, Cardiovascular Center, Pediatric Center, Regional Blood Transfusion Center and Hue Central International Hospital. These facilities not only contribute to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment but also demonstrate the modern development of the Hospital.

Advanced techniques such as organ transplants, cardiovascular and cancer treatment, and complex surgeries are all successfully performed at Hue Central Hospital.

Professor Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of the Hospital, shared: “We always forecast development trends, focus on scientific research and deploy advanced medical techniques, ensuring the quality of medical examination and treatment at international standards. Not only a place for medical examination and treatment, Hue Central Hospital is also the main training facility for Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Duy Tan University and many other universities. In particular, the Hospital has received international training of doctors from countries such as the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

Regarding scientific research, the Hospital presides over hundreds of national, ministerial and local level projects, and participates in many breakthrough clinical trials. The Hospital's Clinical Journal is recognized by the State Council of Professors and the Medical Industry with a score of 0-1, contributing to enhancing academic prestige not only domestically but also regionally.

With key investment from the Government and the Ministry of Health, the Hospital is moving towards the goal of reaching regional and international standards, contributing to building Thua Thien Hue into a specialized medical center of Vietnam.”

The recognition from the Government and the Ministry of Health is the motivation for the Hospital to continue to improve, enhance service quality, invest in modern equipment and develop human resources. The Prime Minister emphasized: "Always promote the spirit of self-reliance, achievements and Uncle Ho's teachings to do better in health care for the people."

Over 130 years of history, Hue Central Hospital has been affirming its pioneering role in the cause of people's health care and the country's medicine.
