10,000 - 12,000 senior leaders and businesses attend APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum in Phu Quoc is expected to take place in November 2027 with the participation of 10,000 - 12,000 senior leaders of countries and leading businesses in the world.

On August 1, the Standing Committee of An Giang Provincial Party Committee had a working session with the Standing Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone Party Committee.

The An Giang Provincial People's Committee said that the locality has just released a summary report on the draft of the Master Plan for preparing and organizing activities within the framework of welcoming the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum in Phu Quoc in 2027 (APEC 2027). This event will have the participation of 21 Pacific Rim economies.

The locality is expected to have about 10,000 - 12,000 participants, including senior leaders of 21 APEC member economies who are heads of state or heads of government of countries such as the US, Russia, China, Japan...

APEC Ministers and senior officials, along with about 2,000 leading businesses in the world; about 3,000 domestic and foreign reporters.

APEC in Phu Quoc is expected to be held in November 2027 and last for 7 days with many main activities, including: the closing senior officials meeting (CSOM); APEC Foreign and Economic Ministers Meeting (AMM); APEC CEO Summit; APEC Economic Leaders' Summit (AELM); bilateral meetings and closing and handover ceremonies.

Side events such as the official welcoming ceremony and gala dinner; ABAC forum and public-private dialogue or APEC business forum; APEC exhibition and APEC Park 2027 (introducing products, investment projects, typical initiatives of 21 economies and trade connections...).

In addition, there is a spouse program (meeting spouses of leaders at cultural and historical sites and enjoying cuisine, promoting Vietnamese culture); APEC 2027 cultural and sports events and activities for the press.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai - Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee - requested the An Giang Provincial People's Committee to immediately develop a master plan to prepare for hosting APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc. In addition, the province must have a plan to train and develop human resources (tourism, culture, history) to serve APEC.

Phu Quoc in particular must focus on urban beautification, green tourism, wastewater and waste treatment, and ensuring a green and clean environment in the eyes of international visitors.

Mr. Hai requested that localities and relevant units closely monitor and manage public-private investment projects serving APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc.

"I suggest that the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, when selecting an investor for the project, must ensure capacity, qualifications, technical expertise, financial resources... to carry out the project on schedule and with quality to serve APEC," Mr. Hai emphasized.
