Over the years, many large-scale projects have been invested in and built in Hanoi , becoming typical works in many fields.
The National Assembly Building is located on Doc Lap Street, opposite Ba Dinh Square, where President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The building consists of 5 floors above ground and 2 basements with 35,000m2 of construction area and over 60,000m2 of floor area, with a total investment of about 5,500 billion VND. The National Convention Center is considered one of the three largest convention centers in Southeast Asia when it was first inaugurated. This is the first and only center in Vietnam built on the most advanced and modern technology, considered a key project of the country, with beautiful, harmonious architecture, and synchronous technical infrastructure. The National Convention Center is built on an area of 60 hectares, including 1 large meeting room with 3,747 seats, 2 large high-class meeting rooms, 20 medium and small meeting rooms. Outside the center there is an underground garage, above is a fountain square, there is an airport for helicopters... Passenger Terminal T2, Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) has a floor area of 139,216m2 including 4 floors (excluding the basement for technical services). The 1st floor is for international arrivals. The 2nd floor is for international departures (connecting flights) and arrivals. The 3rd floor is for international departures. The 4th floor is the business class lounge and commercial service area. The project has an investment of nearly 1 billion USD from ODA loans from the Japanese government . The project was completed in January 2015 after 3 years of construction. My Dinh Stadium (Hanoi) is the central and most important project of the National Sports Complex. The total area of the area (1 main stadium, 2 training grounds) is 17.5 hectares. The main stadium has a capacity of 40,192 seats (including 450 VIP seats, 160 seats for the press) with plastic chairs imported from France. The lighting system consists of 355 bulbs, arranged in 4 columns, 54m high. The stadium roof weighs 2,300 tons, spans 156m, and has a diameter of 1.1m. The project was completed on September 2, 2003 in time for the 22nd SEA Games. Along with Thang Long Bridge and Dong Tru Bridge, Nhat Tan Bridge is one of the connecting points between the central districts with Dong Anh District and Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi). Nhat Tan Bridge has a total length of 9.17km, of which the main bridge is 3.9km (the bridge over the Red River is 1.5km) and the approach bridge is 5.27km long. The project has a total investment of up to 13,626 billion VND, inaugurated in January 2015 after about 6 years of construction. Thang Long Avenue with a length of 29.264 km is one of the key traffic works selected by the National Steering Committee for the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi as the completed work to celebrate the great ceremony. The width of the road is 140m, including 2 separate expressways with a scale of 6 lanes (16.25m wide); 2 urban roads with 2 lanes for motor vehicles, 10.5m wide; a median strip between the 2 expressways, 20m wide; 2 reserved land strips between the two urban roads. In addition, there are green trees and sidewalks. On the road, there are 51 bridges over rivers and intersections. The total investment of the project is 7,527 billion VND, of which the central budget is 1,840 billion VND and the capital of Hanoi City is 5,687 billion VND. Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower is a complex of hotels, commercial, offices, and housing with a floor area of up to 609,673m2. The project consists of 2 high-end 50-storey apartment buildings in a triangular shape with 922 apartments from the 6th to the 50th floor. Connected to the 2 apartment buildings is a 72-storey commercial and rental apartment tower. This is one of the typical architectural works demonstrating the development of the Vietnamese economy in general and Hanoi in particular. On November 6, 2021, the first urban railway line of the capital and the whole country was completed (Cat Linh - Ha Dong line) and officially put into commercial operation, after 10 years of construction. The project has a total investment adjusted according to the approval of the Ministry of Transport of more than 18,000 billion VND, an increase of more than 9,231 billion VND compared to the total investment approved initially. After 14 years of waiting since the construction date and many missed deadlines, at 8:00 a.m. on August 8, 2024, the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Metro Train officially started operating the elevated section from Nhon to Cau Giay Station. According to the capital planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Hanoi People's Council, the investment orientation is to build 14 urban railway lines, an increase of 4 lines compared to the old planning. The Hanoi People's Committee aims to complete 96.8km of construction and complete investment preparation for 301km of urban railway by 2030, with a total investment of 14.602 billion USD. The new Children's Palace in Hanoi is located next to CV1 Lake Park with a total area of about 40,000m2, a construction floor area of about 10,280m2. The project is special because it has an 18-storey Astronomy Tower, a four-season swimming pool and many other functional rooms. The project was approved by the City People's Committee for implementation from 2020-2024 (60 months); started on November 19, 2021 and completed construction and equipment installation on June 30, 2024 (54 months from 2020), shortening the implementation time by 10%. This is one of the key projects of Hanoi city in the period of 2020 - 2025 with the goal of building a large cultural, sports and political center for young people in the capital and the whole country.
