Expected weapons to appear
Traditionally, the T-34 tank and Su-152 self-propelled guns continued to appear. These were the mainstays of the Soviet armored and artillery forces during World War II.
Appearing for the first time at this year's Victory Day parade on Red Square were the Orlan-10, Lancet and Geran unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In recent years, UAVs have become an indispensable part of modern military doctrine and combat manuals.
The event is also expected to feature performances by the Russian Knights, flying Su-30SM aircraft, and the Strizhi (Swallows) with MiG-29 aircraft.
In previous years, several other air formations took part in the parade, including Tu-22M3, Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers, and Mi-28 and Mi-35 helicopters.

Security and weather before G-hour
The parade is a particularly solemn event, so preparations began in April. Rehearsals for the parade were held in the capital, during which Muscovites and visitors to the city could see the equipment, armored vehicles and aircraft. The first training sessions were also held in Alabino, near Moscow, where the Russian Defense Ministry's training ground is located. Preliminary rehearsals took place in Moscow on April 23, 29 and May 3. The final rehearsal took place on May 7.
Ahead of the celebrations, Russia has taken necessary measures including restricting mobile internet access to ensure security at the important event, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Russian media reported that Pantsir-S1 air defense systems were deployed on buildings and S-400s were deployed 10 kilometers from Red Square to protect the event.

According to RIA Novosti, more than 130 units of military equipment, including ancient and modern weapons, are expected to appear on Red Square. If the weather in Moscow is favorable, the parade will end with an air show by squadrons of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, told RIA Novosti that the weather in Moscow on Victory Day will be cold, like it was three weeks ago, and there is expected to be very little rain, with no dark clouds covering the capital.
