The 12 Highest Paying College Degrees in America

In the US, 12 degrees help university graduates receive salaries of about 74,000-106,600 USD (1.8-2.6 billion VND) a year, with Electrical Engineering at the top.

A report released in early October by the US Census Bureau shows that bachelor's degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science will both earn over $100,000 in 2022. Of which, the salary for Electrical Engineering is slightly higher at $106,000.

Slightly lower is a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, earning nearly $99,200 a year. Also reaching above $90,000 are bachelor's degrees in Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Finance.

Overall, most of the highest-paying occupations in the US are in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields. Other occupations in the top 12 in terms of salary are Economics , Accounting, Marketing, Nursing.

The above results are from a survey by the US Census Bureau in 2022. In it, this agency counted the average salary of university graduates (first degree), aged 25 to 64, in 34 fields, some of which were listed as "other business bachelor's degree".

The lowest salaries of the 34 occupations included were in Social Work, Family and Consumer Sciences, and ElementaryEducation , all of which were under $50,000 a year. By comparison, the median state salary in the U.S. in 2023 was about $59,400.

Because of job opportunities and high salaries, STEM, Finance, and Business majors currently attract the most international students in the US, including Vietnamese students.

According to the 2022 Report of the Institute of International Education (IIE), 70% of the more than 20,700 Vietnamese undergraduate students in the US choose to study STEM and Business Administration. The rest are interested in graphic design, art, and nursing.
