14 quarries proposed to increase capacity under special mechanism

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Tran Trong Toan, up to now, there are 14 stone quarries supplying the Long Thanh International Airport Project whose owners have proposed to increase their mining capacity according to the special mechanism in Resolution No. 168/NQ-CP and Resolution No. 02/2025/NQ-CP issued on June 11, 2025 by the Government.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is reviewing the documents to advise the Provincial People's Committee. If all these mines are subject to special mechanisms, the total volume of stone increased compared to the design capacity from now until the end of 2025 will be more than 4.2 million m3, exceeding the total demand of the Long Thanh International Airport Project. However, there is still a shortage of stone types.

It is expected that from now until the end of 2025, the above project will need about 3.4 million m3 of various types of construction stone. Of which, July will need about 700 thousand m3, August will need about 670 thousand m3, September will need about 620 thousand m3, then the demand will gradually decrease towards the end of the year. Ensuring the supply of stone in sufficient quantity and on schedule is decisive for the basic completion of the project by the end of this year.
