The Ministry of Industry and Trade has approved the temporary electricity purchase price of 15 wind and solar power plants.

In addition, 6 other factories have agreed on temporary prices and are expected to complete documents to submit to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for approval next week.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade requested EVN and investors to urgently sign contracts to amend and supplement the power purchase contracts of transitional power plants according to the temporary electricity price plan, complete legal procedures and technical requirements to connect the plants to the national grid in the context of difficult power supply.

According to the Electricity Law, power projects must be granted an electricity operation license before being put into operation, but so far only 16/85 transitional renewable energy power plants (18.8%) have been granted this license. In addition, 12 other plants have had their documents submitted by investors and are being completed, and are being appraised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

According to EVN, of the 37 submitted negotiation dossiers, 11 dossiers need to be supplemented and completed. Some investors have been requested to supplement their dossiers since the end of March but have not yet done so. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry and Trade affirmed that the procedures and dossier components for applying for a license for renewable energy power plants have been guided in Circular 21/2020/TT-BCT dated September 9, 2020.

According to information from the Government Office , at a meeting on ensuring electricity supply in the dry season on May 17, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested EVN to urgently complete negotiations with investors of wind power and solar power projects that have completed construction investment so that they can immediately generate electricity to the national power system.
