(NLDO) - The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has proposed considering arranging a number of locations and areas for stopping, picking up and dropping off passengers in front of Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat Airport.

The plan to connect bus routes in the Tan Son Nhat airport area has just been sent by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and Public Works (GTCC) to the Ministry of Construction and Vietnam Airports Corporation, Tan Son Nhat airport.

According to the Department of Transport, it is expected that on April 30, Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat Airport will be put into operation, increasing the total capacity of Tan Son Nhat International Airport to 50 million passengers/year.

To reduce traffic congestion in the Tan Son Nhat airport area, the Department of Transport has coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic Science and Technology Joint Stock Company to research and develop a plan to connect bus routes in the airport area, including connecting to Terminal T3 for convenient travel for people.

The proposed bus type is high quality, modern, meeting part of the needs of passengers going to and from this airport with about 20 routes.

To quickly put these bus routes into operation, the Department of Transport has requested Tan Son Nhat International Airport to consider arranging a number of locations (5-7 parking spaces) in the T3 terminal area in front of the station to stop, park, pick up and drop off passengers.

In addition, the Department of Transport proposed that the Ministry of Construction agree to allow the department to organize the connection of bus routes in the Tan Son Nhat airport area. At the same time, it should act as the focal point for organizing the connection of bus routes in the Tan Son Nhat airport area; and research bus routes connecting Tan Son Nhat airport with Long Thanh international airport to put into operation next year.
