22 Social Housing Projects Started in 12 Provinces and Cities Across the Country

(NLDO) - 22 social housing projects have been started in 12 provinces and cities across the country, contributing to increasing the supply of housing for low-income people.

On the morning of August 19, at residential area No. 6, Hiep Binh Ward (HCMC), the Ministry of Construction , leaders of HCMC and the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUD) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the HUD Thu Duc social housing project. This is one of more than 250 projects being started nationwide to celebrate the Party Congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Congress and the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2.

The Ministry of Construction, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUD) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the HUD Thu Duc social housing project.

The HUD Thu Duc project has a total investment of more than 387 billion VND, including a 7-storey building. Of which, two floors of the base block are for public services, commerce and parking; the tower block is three 5-storey blocks, arranged with 209 apartments with areas from 51.5 to 69.5 m², providing accommodation for about 500 residents. The project is highly appreciated for applying smart, energy-saving and environmentally friendly design solutions. The location near Van Phuc urban area also promises to create great attraction for those who want to buy a house.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized that the implementation of the social housing project not only demonstrates the attention of the City Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee but is also an important step to complete the tasks assigned by the Government in the field of housing development.

According to the plan, from now until 2030, Ho Chi Minh City must complete 199,400 social housing units, of which 13,040 units need to be completed in 2025. Mr. Cuong said the city will focus all resources to achieve this target.

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh also said that at the same time, 22 social housing projects were started nationwide. The Government is determined to remove legal obstacles, promote effective implementation of projects, and strive to complete 100,000 units in 2025, contributing to the goal of 1 million social housing units by 2030. He suggested that Ho Chi Minh City promptly hand over clean land, speed up design appraisal and construction licensing, and create conditions for projects to start construction and come into operation soon.

Also on August 19, in Khanh Hoa province, Hoang Quan Group coordinated with Sao Bien Real Estate Company Limited to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the social housing project in Thanh Hai resettlement area, Bao An ward. This is one of the four key projects of the province, belonging to the group of 80 key projects that were simultaneously started nationwide.

Hoang Quan Group cooperated with Sao Bien Real Estate Company Limited to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the social housing project at Thanh Hai resettlement area, Bao An ward, Khanh Hoa.

The project in Khanh Hoa has a scale of more than 19,150 m², including four 15-storey apartment blocks with a total of 1,352 apartments, ranging in area from 30 to 70 m². The total investment capital is more than VND 1,136 billion, expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027. This is a model social housing project of the province, developed according to ESG standards combined with Smart elements, aiming for sustainability, transparency and environmental friendliness.

List of 22 social housing projects starting construction on August 19

In Lao Cai, the Riverside Yen Bai social housing project invested by Binh Minh Tay Bac Investment Joint Stock Company will begin construction.

In Thai Nguyen, VITC High-Tech Construction Investment Joint Stock Company is implementing a social housing area in Bach Quang ward.

In Ha Tinh, Ha Tinh Development Investment Fund is implementing a pilot social housing project in Thach Linh ward - phase 2.

In the Central region, Da Nang City started a social housing project in the Hiep Hoa 4 resettlement area invested by Thu Do Investment and Trade Joint Stock Company, while Khanh Hoa has a social housing project in the Thanh Hai resettlement area invested by Sao Bien Real Estate Company Limited.

In Dong Nai, Thong Nhat Joint Stock Company builds a social housing project in Bau Xeo industrial park.

Ho Chi Minh City alone has two projects, including the social housing area at 4 Phan Chu Trinh, Binh Thanh Ward and the HUD Thu Duc project invested by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUD).

In Hanoi, HUD also implemented a social housing project in the new urban area HUD – Me Linh Central.

In Ca Mau, T&T Group Corporation is building a social housing project in the new urban area of Hamlet 5, An Xuyen ward.

Bac Ninh has 3 projects, including Que Vo Hillview social housing area invested by Song Hong Real Estate Management Company Limited; social housing area in Nam Ngan village, Quang Chau commune invested by Hoang Ninh Group Joint Stock Company; and trade union social housing project in Viet Yen ward invested by the Trade Union Project Management Board - Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

In Ninh Binh, there are 4 social housing projects that have started construction, including the project in Hoa Lu ward managed by Ninh Binh Development Investment Fund; the social housing area in Ca street, Thanh Liem commune; the social housing area in Nam Cao University urban area; and the social housing area east of Chau Giang II industrial park, all three of which are managed by Ninh Binh Department of Construction.

Quang Tri also has three projects, including Loc Ninh 1 and Bao Ninh 1 social housing projects invested by the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Construction, and the social housing project of the Phan Huy Chu Western Urban Area project implemented by Khuong Nguyen Joint Stock Company.

Finally, in Quang Ninh, there are two social housing projects: the housing area in the Bank Hill residential area invested by a joint venture of Global Financial Investment Consulting JSC and Hanoi Housing Investment and Development JSC No. 6; and the workers' housing project of Nui Beo Coal Company (Vinacomin).
