On February 9, General To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, chaired the ceremony to send off the Ministry of Public Security's rescue team to carry out its mission in Turkey.
Attending the Departure Ceremony were Mr. Haldun Tekneci, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Vietnam; Ms. Ayan Devletsah, Deputy Ambassador of Turkey to Vietnam, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health and Vietnam Red Cross Society .
Speaking at the ceremony, General To Lam , Minister of Public Security, said that Turkey experienced an earthquake on the morning of February 6, causing great loss of life and property. This is the most terrible disaster in the past century, sweeping across Turkey. As of February 9, the death toll had reached more than 17,000 people, tens of thousands of houses were destroyed, and an estimated 13.5 million people in the affected area.
Based on the good cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Türkiye in general, between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Turkish law enforcement agencies in particular, as well as contributing to sharing the difficulties that Türkiye is facing, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam officially sent a working delegation to Türkiye with the aim of supporting rescue, assisting in searching for victims and providing humanitarian assistance, helping the Turkish people overcome the consequences and soon stabilize their lives after the earthquake disaster.
The participation of the rescue team of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in Türkiye will contribute and share part of Vietnam's strength with the Turkish people and at the same time demonstrate the political commitment of the Party and State as a responsible member of the international community, ready to join hands to solve difficult and challenging problems and maintain a peaceful and stable environment for cooperation and development in the region and the world.
General To Lam requested that during the time of performing tasks in the field, as representatives of the nation and the Vietnamese Public Security force, everyone must make efforts, try hard, actively coordinate with other forces, not fearing difficulties and dangers, uphold the spirit of solidarity, mutual love and support, and promote the qualities of a revolutionary public security soldier.
Lieutenant General To An Xo - Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security added: This is the first time the Ministry of Public Security has organized a rescue team to perform an international mission in a disaster area far from Vietnam's territory.
"I hope that the 24 rescue soldiers and medical staff who will go to Türkiye will help the people in the affected areas overcome the consequences of the disaster. Through this rescue work, Vietnam's peace messengers will leave a beautiful image in the hearts of the Turkish people and international friends, and at the same time learn valuable experiences from international friends," Lieutenant General To An Xo emphasized.
According to information from the Ministry of Public Security, the team of officers and soldiers participating in the rescue operation in Turkey this time consists of 24 people. On the night of February 9, the team will depart for Türkiye with a spirit of urgency and timeliness in the rescue work./.
