Tomorrow (June 19), in Hanoi , the APEC Business Advisory Council Vietnam (ABAC Vietnam) in coordination with the People's Committee of Hai Phong City will hold a press conference to introduce the 3rd Meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC III) and a series of related events.
ABAC is the official representative mechanism of the business community within the APEC framework, established in 1995 to directly advise APEC Leaders. Leaders of each economy send up to three representative enterprises to participate in ABAC. In 2025, Korea will assume the role of APEC Chair, and concurrently the ABAC Chair. ABAC holds 04 Annual Meetings with the theme: “Bridge. Business. Beyond”, focusing on free trade, digital transformation, sustainable development and inclusive growth.
The ABAC III meeting is one of four official ABAC meetings during the year, where members discuss and agree on policy recommendations to be presented to APEC Leaders and letters to APEC Ministers.
In 2025, the ABAC III Session will take place from July 15-18, 2025 at the Pullman Hai Phong Hotel, with about 250 international and Vietnamese delegates, including ABAC members who are leaders of corporations, leading enterprises, trade and investment promotion organizations from 21 APEC economies, assistants and international guests. The ABAC III Session in 2025 in Hai Phong is part of a series of events towards Vietnam assuming the role of APEC 2027 and ABAC 2027 Chair. It is expected that President Luong Cuong will attend and deliver a speech at the Opening Session of the ABAC III Session (July 16, 2025).
On the sidelines of the meeting, many activities to connect businesses and promote investment will be held: the Investment - Trade Promotion Conference will take place on the afternoon of July 15 at the Hai Phong Convention and Performance Center. It is expected to be honored to welcome President Luong Cuong to give a speech, with the participation of about 700 delegates including APEC business leaders, ambassadors and counselors of APEC economies with representative agencies in Hanoi, business associations and international investors, to promote the investment environment of Vietnam, especially Hai Phong.
The Welcome Party hosted by Hai Phong City on the evening of July 15 is a cultural and diplomatic highlight, demonstrating hospitality and creating a space for exchange and connection between APEC businesses and the Vietnamese business community, while helping to promote the image of Hai Phong City as an attractive destination for economic cooperation, investment, culture and tourism.
In addition, the exhibition area displaying Hai Phong's economic achievements and typical products will take place from July 15-18, 2025 to promote to ABAC members the economic achievements that Hai Phong has achieved, creating opportunities for ABAC delegates to directly enjoy the typical products of Vietnam's coastal region.
