Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tu, Chairman of the Hai Phong Journalists Association, said that on June 16, 2023, the Hai Phong City Press Award 2023 - 2024 was launched to encourage and promote the creative labor emulation movement of journalists and journalists in the city to improve their political level and professional skills, creating high-quality press works with great social impact.
Through the Award, we aim to honor outstanding authors and journalistic works, discover and nurture journalistic talents, enhance the role and responsibility of journalists towards society and the country. Contribute to improving the quality of journalism, promoting journalistic innovation to serve the cause of building and developing a modern, civilized city, contributing to the industrialization and modernization of the country.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong said that the Hai Phong City Press Award 2023-2024 is a press award with profound political, social and humanistic significance. The project to organize the Hai Phong City Press Award was approved by the City People's Committee in Decision No. 3436 dated October 14, 2022. The Hai Phong City Press Award Council was also established under Decision No. 347 dated February 7, 2023 of the City People's Committee. Accordingly, the scale of the award has also been expanded in terms of the number of awards and the award levels, including press categories: Television, radio, print newspapers, print magazines, electronic newspapers, electronic magazines, press photos. Thereby affirming the attention, care and honor of press work as well as affirming the position, role and importance of press work for the development of the city.

After two years of launching and implementing from 2023 to the end of 2024, the Hai Phong Press Award has gathered a large number of journalist members to participate. In addition to professional journalists, the award attracts the participation of collaborators from press agencies with nearly 100 works in 4 types of journalism participating in the award.
Journalists have discovered and mentioned many new, difficult and urgent issues that have been and are being raised in practice. That is the result of the creative, sensitive, intelligent, ethical and social responsibility of journalists towards the development of the country and the city.

In order for the Hai Phong City Press Awards to continue to position its "brand" and at the same time continue to spread the image of Hai Phong City with its aspirations for development, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes and believes that, overcoming the limitations pointed out in the last Awards season; the Journalists Association and agencies and localities continue to pay attention and create conditions to attract a large number of journalists to continue to show responsibility and affection to have many press works about the City in the new development process, especially after the merger of Hai Phong City to implement the two-level government model, organize Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 17th City Party Congress, the 14th Party Congress; thereby, there will be many more works of good quality to continue to participate in the Hai Phong City Press Awards in the next organization.

With 33 works proposed by the Jury, the Organizing Committee decided to award 04 works winning A prizes, 08 works winning B prizes, 08 works winning C prizes and 13 works winning Encouragement prizes.
In particular, Vietnam Law Newspaper won the Encouragement Prize with 3 issues: "Strengthening the Party's leadership over the activities of the People's Council - Notes from Hai Phong" (Issue 1: Timely institutionalization of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of the Port City; Issue 2: Focusing on implementing monitoring activities, enhancing the role of Party committees; Issue 3: Decisions of the spirit of innovation, bringing the breath of life) by the group of authors Quoc An - Thuy Linh.
At the conference, the Hai Phong City Press Awards Council launched the Hai Phong City Press Awards 2025-2026. The Organizing Committee hopes that many members and journalists will participate so that the City Press Awards 2025-2026 will be successful, practically aiming to celebrate the City's major holidays in 2025, 2026, including the events of the 14th National Party Congress and the 17th City Party Congress.
