On May 13, the Vietnam Center for Music Copyright Protection (VCPMC) held a press conference to summarize its activities in the first months of 2025.
Musician - Meritorious Artist Dinh Trung Can - General Director of VCPMC said that in the first quarter of 2025, the unit collected 85 billion VND in music copyright. The number of authors registered to send works to VCPMC is currently 6,720, an increase of nearly 400 authors in just a few months.

Musician Dinh Trung Can also revealed that VCPMC paid a musician (whose name was not given) 1 billion 32 million VND in music copyright fees.
VCPMC also strengthens support for authors to review their works, especially in copyright preservation, and to reclaim rights for authors if there are transactions or if the cooperation has expired to ensure the rights and maximum exploitation of copyright for authors, avoiding damage or exploitation; Support legal issues regarding representation, inheritance, and copyright disputes.
At the meeting, musician Doan Nho confirmed that he had sent a petition to VCPMC because his works have recently been infringed too much on copyright. Accordingly, the author of 'Chiec Khan Pieu' signed a contract authorizing VCPMC to manage and exploit his works.
"I do not authorize the management or transfer of ownership or use of my musical works to any other organization or individual. But currently, there are many individuals and organizations using my musical works to release on platforms without asking for permission or paying royalties to me. This is an act of copyright infringement, causing legitimate damage to my rights," musician Doan Nho was indignant.

He believes that this is an act of "theft" and needs to be criminalized to be a sufficient deterrent. The musician suggested that VCPMC require individuals and organizations that use his works to ask for permission or pay royalties through VCPMC.
Similarly, musicians Phan Hong Phong, Phan Huynh Dieu, and Truong Xuan Hoang (Xuan Giao) also complained that their musical works were being infringed upon by copyright on the Internet. All of them sent petitions, requesting that individuals and organizations using their works ask for permission or pay royalties through VCPMC.
