Launched in March 2025, the "Rural Youth Startup Project" competition continues to affirm its position as a prestigious and practical platform to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young people, especially in rural areas. This is one of the key activities aimed at realizing the goal of developing a modern, green, and sustainable agricultural economy in accordance with the Party and Government's orientation.
According to the organizers, 228 projects from 45 provincial and city youth unions submitted applications to the competition. Among them, 33 projects came from young people from ethnic minority groups such as H'Mong, Tay, Dao, Muong, Nung, Thai, Ha Nhi, Khmer, and San Diu… This demonstrates the strong spread and the entrepreneurial spirit deeply ingrained in every village and remote area.
The participating projects focus on areas such as agricultural development using science and technology, promoting local resources, environmental protection, and preserving ethnic culture. There are 156 projects focusing on agricultural development using science and technology and promoting local resources; 39 projects focusing on environmental protection; and 33 projects focusing on preserving ethnic culture.
Following the preliminary round, the organizing committee selected 120 projects to advance to the semi-finals. From there, the 30 best projects will continue to compete in the national finals, scheduled to be held in October 2025.
In the final round, the projects were divided into three groups based on their respective fields. Contestants not only showcased their talents through presentations introducing their projects, visually promoting their products, and engaging in debates with the judging panel, but also opened up numerous opportunities for collaboration and practical development.
The organizing committee will support and connect the projects through various activities such as: organizing a trading floor, attracting investment capital, organizing conferences to exchange information on support policies in agricultural production with the participation of leaders from ministries, central agencies, representatives of investment funds, commercial banks and economic corporations in related fields, and organizing a trade fair to promote the products of the participating contestants.
In 2025, the competition's prize structure will be designed to be practical and highly supportive of young people in realizing their entrepreneurial dreams, including:
+ 1st Prize: 50 million VND + Opportunity to borrow capital from the National Employment Fund to implement a project up to 1 billion VND (the project must meet the specified conditions for borrowing).
+ 2 Second Prizes: 30 million VND each + Loan support up to 500 million VND
+ 3 Third Prizes: 15 million VND each + Loan support up to 300 million VND
+ 3 Consolation Prizes: 10 million VND each + Loan support up to 200 million VND
The subsidiary awards include: Outstanding Investment Project Award, Project with Social Significance and Good Development Potential, and Project Meeting Integration Standards.
Projects participating in the National Finals will receive Certificates of Merit from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and the Organizing Committee will introduce them to businesses for investment, support, and practical implementation advice for projects that meet the needs of the businesses.
The competition not only serves as a breeding ground for startup ideas among rural youth but also contributes to shifting production thinking towards smart agricultural economics, combining science and technology, environmental protection, and cultural preservation.
Through this competition, rural youth have more opportunities to access capital, improve their entrepreneurial skills, and contribute to the development of the rural economy in a modern, green, and sustainable direction.
