33 new national treasures recognized as priceless values ​​of Vietnamese culture

(CLO) Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has just signed Decision No. 1712/QD-TTg, officially recognizing 33 artifacts and groups of artifacts as national treasures (batch 13, 2024). These are valuable treasures, reflecting the depth of Vietnamese history and cultural identity, spanning from prehistoric to modern times.

In this list, artifacts come from many different historical periods, each treasure has unique value, associated with important milestones of the nation such as:

Golden seal "Hoang De Chi Bao", date: March, 4th year of Minh Mang (1823); currently kept at Nam Hong Royal Museum, Bac Ninh province.

Dak Son lithophone ( Dak Nong ), dating back 3,500 - 3,000 years, demonstrates the presence of ancient civilization in the Central Highlands.

Vu Ban bronze drum (Ha Nam) and Dong Son bronze drum (in private collections in Hanoi and Quang Nam), representing the glorious Dong Son culture, date from the 3rd - 2nd century BC.

Lai Nghi gold jewelry set and animal-shaped agate beads (Quang Nam), dating from the 3rd century BC to the 1st century, demonstrate the sophisticated craftsmanship of the ancients.

Religious treasures and architectural art

Religious and architectural artifacts also occupy prominent positions: the Linh Son Bac Buddha statue head (An Giang) and the Bac Binh Avalokitesvara statue (Binh Thuan), reflecting the cultural exchange between Vietnam and India.

The relief of Shiva dancing in Phong Le and the relief of Uma Chanh Lo (Da Nang) represent unique Cham sculpture from the 10th - 11th centuries.

The six Kim Cuong statues of Doi Son Pagoda (Ha Nam), crafted during the Ly Dynasty (1118-1121), are symbols of the pinnacle of religious art.

Treasures of Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the feudal period

Relics from Thang Long Imperial Citadel also left a strong impression, such as: The phoenix head collection from the Ly Dynasty (11th - 12th century); Royal vases from the early Le Dynasty (15th century) and the ceramic collection from Truong Lac Palace (15th - 16th century).

In addition, the pair of stone dragons forming the steps of Trich Sai communal house (Hanoi) or the Ngo Mon bell of Minh Mang period (Hue) are also evidence of the sophisticated art of sculpture and craftsmanship through the dynasties.

Treasures associated with President Ho Chi Minh

In particular, three cars that served President Ho Chi Minh from 1954 to 1969 were also recognized as national treasures. These were not only means of transportation but also historical witnesses, associated with the life and great career of the beloved leader.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized that the recognition of national treasures is an important step in the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with relevant authorities and organizations, are assigned the task of managing, protecting and promoting these treasures in accordance with the provisions of the law on cultural heritage.

The 33 newly recognized national treasures are not only a source of national pride but also a source of inspiration to promote research, preservation and promotion of the value of Vietnam's cultural heritage in the integration period.
