34 new provinces and cities of Vietnam officially come into operation

Today, July 1, 2025, the new government apparatus will officially come into operation nationwide. The new government is organized at two levels, including the provincial level and the communal level.

Specifically, the country has 34 provincial and municipal administrative units and 3,321 commune-level administrative units. Of these, 19 provinces and 4 cities were formed after the reorganization, stipulated in the resolution passed at the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly./ .

The column “Q&A on the activities of 2-level local governments and decentralization, delegation of authority, and determination of authority” is set up on the Ministry of Home Affairs’ electronic information portal here . The column consists of 3 parts: Q&A on 2-level local governments, Q&A on administrative procedures, and looking up legal documents.

This section is like an open forum, creating favorable conditions for people, officials and civil servants to access accurate and clear information about the functions, tasks and powers of the two-level local government - unprecedented.

Through this column, the Ministry of Home Affairs will regularly update specific, practical, and easy-to-understand questions and answers related to decentralization and delegation of power between the central and local levels; between provincial and communal levels; between state administrative agencies and public service units; as well as issues arising in the organization of the government apparatus and the activities of People's Councils and People's Committees at all levels.

In particular, citizens and civil servants can send questions directly via email, or call the hotline 0968.218.126 for timely advice and guidance.

Legitimate feedback and recommendations will be studied, answered or forwarded to competent authorities for consideration and handling in accordance with the law by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
