The provinces and cities that have announced the benchmark scores for grade 10 in 2025 include: Lai Chau, Dong Nai, Soc Trang, Thai Binh, Can Tho, Ha Nam, Hung Yen, Ha Tinh, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Nghe An, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Bac Ninh, Hue, Hai Phong.
This year, in many localities, candidates only need to score 1.53-1.6 points per subject to be able to pass the entrance exam to public high schools in the area.
In Thanh Hoa , in the non-specialized high schools this year, the highest admission score for the first choice is Ham Rong High School, Thanh Hoa City (25.15 points). The difference in admission scores between the lowland and mountainous regions is quite clear.
Specifically, the lowest admission score for the first choice is Quan Hoa High School (7.95 points). Next is Quan Son Secondary and High School (8.6 points); Ba Thuoc High School (8.75 points). With this standard score, candidates only need to achieve 2.65-2.91 points/subject to be admitted.

The schools with the highest preliminary benchmark scores include Hon Gai High School (21.6 points), Cam Pha High School (19.7 points) and Ngo Quyen High School (19.3 points). Binh Lieu High School has the lowest benchmark score of 4.6 points, meaning that candidates with an average of only 1.53 points/subject can be admitted.

In Thai Nguyen , this year, Luong Ngoc Quyen High School has the highest admission score (23.5 points). Following is Chu Van An High School (22.25 points). These are also the only two schools in the province with admission scores above 20. Meanwhile, Tran Phu High School has an admission score of 9, meaning that candidates with an average of 3 points/subject can be admitted.
In Bac Giang , Ngo Si Lien High School has the highest standard score (23.8 points). Lang Giang District Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center has the lowest standard score (8 points).
In Lai Chau, the benchmark score for grade 10 is from 4.75 to 23.75 points. Among non-specialized public schools, Dao San High School (Phong Tho district) is expected to have the lowest entrance score, only 4.75 points, meaning that candidates are expected to only need to score nearly 1.6 points per subject to be admitted.
Five other high schools in this province are also expected to have a benchmark score below 10, including: Quyet Thang High School (6 points), Muong Kim High School (8 points), Tan Uyen High School (8.25 points), Muong Than High School (9 points), and Nam Nhun High School (9.25 points).
This benchmark score is expected before the review. Lai Chau Department of Education and Training will announce the adjustment if there is any change from the review results of the exam.
The 10th grade exam for the 2025-2026 school year is the first year of enrollment according to the 2018 general education program. According to the regulations on enrollment in junior high school and high school issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, there are 3 methods of enrollment in grade 10: entrance exam, selection, or a combination of entrance exam and selection. The selection of the enrollment method is under the authority of the locality.
Regarding the entrance exam method, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that there will be 3 subjects and exams, including: Math, Literature and a third subject or exam selected by the Department of Education and Training. The third subject is selected from among the subjects assessed by scores in the general education program at the secondary school level, ensuring that the same subject is not selected for more than 3 consecutive years.
This year, most provinces and cities organize entrance exams for grade 10 with three subjects: Math, Literature, and English.
