Vu Dieu Thao considers this music project as her very private sentiment, blending into the national atmosphere.

Starting with "The Country is Full of Joy" (composer Hoang Ha) released on February 17, the project introduced many other songs and by May 19, posted all 54 pipa solos, symbolizing 54 ethnic groups.

Listen to Light up the fire, let's go to Saigon ... with the sound of the pipa

Like most Vietnamese traditional musical instruments, the pipa produces a soft, deep melody. Meanwhile, many revolutionary songs have a marching rhythm, often fast and decisive.

That's why when Dieu Thao started working on the project, someone asked if the pipa was suitable for revolutionary music?

"But when performing a revolutionary song with the sound of the pipa, what moved me most was the spirit of the work," she said.

Then Dieu Thao's guitar sound "entwined" and blended together, becoming stronger and more heroic.

The audience will meet again a series of songs that have gone through the years, both familiar and strange, through the sound of the pipa, such as "The pestle on Bom Bo village" , "The person who built Ke Go lake" , " Light the fire, my friend", "The Truong Son road, my car passed by" , "Advancing to Saigon", "The girl who opened the road" , "Five brothers on a tank".

There are also Sending you at the end of the Red River, My hometown Quang Binh , Spring in Ho Chi Minh City, Hello Lam Hong girl, Folk song on the banks of Hien Luong, The storm is rising ...

Sharing about her musical "campaign", Dieu Thao said she wanted to combine traditional instruments and folk music with revolutionary songs to create a diverse, vibrant musical picture that carries the Vietnamese spirit.

Very simple but there are veterans texting to thank!

Dieu Thao's pipa solo videos were simply recorded with a phone, without post-production sound processing or elaborate staging.

Each song is introduced with its story of creation, composer or related historical story…

Simple as it is, every video after being posted on personal Facebook page attracts thousands of likes and comments.

Every day, around 6pm, the artist performs, and many elderly audiences come to listen and share.

"The most touching thing was when a veteran sent a message, 'On behalf of more than 4 million veterans, I thank you, Dieu Thao. Remember to play more songs for everyone to listen to. When you play, I remember the day I and my comrades entered to liberate Saigon 50 years ago'," the artist said.

Dieu Thao shared that at first, she did the project simply because she loved the songs and played them emotionally, without any grand purpose.

However, it is the audience's affection that makes her more responsible. That is why this project of performing 54 pipa solos with revolutionary songs was born.

Vu Dieu Thao is known for the movie "The Sky Ahead" (directed by Do Thanh Hai), but she chose the pipa as her career, while pursuing her childhood dream of becoming a teacher.

She is currently a lecturer at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
