In Lai Chau province, there are currently more than 4,300 people with disabilities, of which over 500 people have visual disabilities. The rate of blindness due to cataract in people over 50 years old is currently 4% (equivalent to about 1,000 people); not to mention the number of people with blindness in both eyes arising annually due to eye diseases, about 0.1% of the population. According to the results of screening in 2024, in the province, there are 204 patients with cataract in need of surgery.

Carrying out a series of gratitude activities on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025)... The Provincial Department of Health coordinated to organize the Program of spinal surgery for patients from policy families, people with revolutionary contributions, war invalids, sick soldiers, people participating in the resistance war, poor and near-poor people with spinal surgery in the province. Accordingly, 60 patients received free spinal surgery.
Patients receive free cataract surgery from doctors and nurses.
On this occasion, the Department of Health presented 60 gifts to patients who received free cataract surgery.
