ADO EBIKE: bringing automatic transmission to electric bicycles
The outstanding technology of the A20 Ultra and A28 Ultra is the engine integrated with a 3-speed automatic transmission. This system is capable of automatically adjusting the transmission ratio based on the vehicle's speed, terrain slope and user's pedaling force without any manual shifting. This promises to not only increase the comfort and ease of operation of the vehicle but also improve pedaling performance, especially suitable for complex urban traffic environments with constant changes in speed and terrain.
The technology is the result of a collaboration between ADO and Bafang, a manufacturer specializing in electric drive systems (e-drive). This is the first time an automatic transmission has been integrated directly into the motor of an e-bike, and is considered a major step forward in simplifying the riding experience, reducing maintenance needs and improving the sustainability of the vehicle.
In addition, the A20 Ultra has a modern, dynamic design and flexible folding ability, convenient for carrying when traveling by public transport such as buses, metro trains or storing in small spaces such as apartments, offices or when going on a picnic, can be stored in the trunk of a car.
With the A28 Ultra model, the vehicle has a classic, luxurious design, the frame is fixed and sturdy, more suitable for daily travel needs in the city with high stability.
Both the A20 Ultra and A28 Ultra models use carbon belts instead of traditional chains. According to the manufacturer, this solution helps the vehicle operate more smoothly, does not get greasy and especially does not require maintenance for a distance of up to 30,000 km. The safety lighting system, puncture-proof tires and smart force sensors create an accessible driving experience for both new and experienced users.

The batteries of both vehicles are located on the shaft attached to the saddle, with parameters of 36V 9.6AH, supporting a maximum travel distance of 100 km, helping to reach a maximum speed of 35 km/h. The battery will take 4 - 6 hours to fully charge. The vehicle has an IPX5 waterproof level, so users can rest assured to use it in the rain.
ADO said that the company not only focuses on developing hardware but also invests heavily in the software ecosystem. Users can connect their bikes to the ADO App via Bluetooth on their phones to monitor operating parameters (speed, battery, distance, trip history), use GPS positioning and save routes, receive anti-theft alerts and set safe area limits, update the bike's firmware and conduct regular checks. The app also helps users record the amount of carbon emissions they have saved when using an e-bike.
In the Vietnamese market, the ADO A20 Ultra has a listed retail price of 34.99 million VND, while the A28 Ultra model is distributed at a price of 38.99 million VND. In particular, users who pre-order the car from now until June 14, 2025 will enjoy special preferential prices, respectively 31.99 million VND for the A20 Ultra version and 35.99 million VND for the A28 Ultra version.
