In its transformation from a traditional telecommunications company to a digital service provider, VNPT has identified Artificial Intelligence as its "trump card."
New growth drivers
According to information presented at the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT)'s 2026 Plan Implementation Conference on December 18th, General Director Huynh Quang Liem stated that, with a strategic vision, VNPT had invested heavily in Artificial Intelligence (AI) seven years ago.
From there, the Innovation Center – a unit under VNPT IT – was formed and entrusted by the Group with the responsibility of paving the way for this journey. And on December 18th, VNPT AI Company was established, demonstrating VNPT's strategic determination to focus resources on developing artificial intelligence – one of the key technology areas identified by the Party and State in many major policies.
According to VNPT leaders, the technological capabilities that the group has systematically invested in over the years, including a big data infrastructure with a capacity of 20 petabytes, the ability to process nearly 20 terabytes of data per day, along with a product ecosystem and high-performance computing infrastructure on a scale of hundreds of petaflops and continuously expanding, will be key conditions for VNPT AI to develop large-scale AI models, meeting the requirements for deployment at the national level.
Alongside its infrastructure, VNPT AI is bringing together over 200 AI and data science experts and engineers, all professionally trained at prestigious institutions both domestically and internationally, and honed through practical problem-solving. This team contributes to bringing VNPT's AI technology closer to international standards, ensuring its suitability to Vietnam's specific conditions and needs, and will also help VNPT AI fulfill its mission in implementing VNPT's AI Strategy.
In fact, VNPT has developed more than 100 specialized AI models, processed over 2 billion requests, served approximately 40 million people, and partnered with more than 200 businesses and many government agencies nationwide.
“The establishment of VNPT AI demonstrates the Group's determination to focus its AI capabilities, serving the transformation direction towards a 'Data Driven, AI-first' model, while contributing to ensuring digital sovereignty and reducing dependence on external technology platforms in key areas,” Mr. Liem emphasized.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, CEO of VNPT AI, in 2026-2027, VNPT AI will focus on completing the AI/GenAI ecosystem for the entire group and its customers; bringing "make in VNPT" AI products and services outside of Vietnam, focusing on markets such as the US, Singapore, and Australia; mastering strategic artificial intelligence technology, publishing AI research and inventions; and forming Innovation Hubs to gather technological talents and transform creative ideas into products and services.
Speaking about longer-term goals, Mr. Cuong said that by 2030, VNPT AI will become the number one AI brand in Vietnam, and by 2035, it will be among the top 10 in the Asia-Pacific region.

Beyond focusing on AI, VNPT is gradually transforming from a traditional telecommunications enterprise into a digital service provider. Specifically, the company has accelerated comprehensive innovation: From October 1, 2025, a new production and business organizational model will officially be put into operation, aiming for modern management, clear decentralization, accountability linked to efficiency, and a data-centric approach. This is a crucial turning point, creating momentum for innovation and improving operational efficiency throughout the Group.
Simultaneously, VNPT successfully implemented a digital platform for data-driven management and operations. All activities, from infrastructure, investment, finance, and business to customer care, are fully digitized, with over 2,000 KPIs and dozens of standardized processes integrated across shared platforms. The data strategy for 2030 has been issued, identifying data as a strategic asset, contributing to optimizing resources and enhancing productivity, especially in broadband and IT services, which continue to experience double-digit growth.
In implementing Resolution 18-NQ/TW, VNPT continues to affirm its core role in deploying the two-tiered local government model. The Group has mobilized over 6,000 staff to participate in the campaign, including upgrading and deploying systems, providing support at the ward and commune levels, maintaining 24/7 information security readiness, and directly supporting system operation. A series of key local digital platforms have been upgraded and synchronized, ensuring uninterrupted administrative operations and improving the quality of service for citizens and businesses.
VNPT is also a key unit in implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW and government programs on science, technology development and digital transformation. The Group has been tasked with collaborating with many ministries and agencies in building a system for handling administrative procedures and a shared database, aiming for synchronized operation from the central to local levels. At the same time, VNPT is accelerating the development of strategic technologies such as AI, Cloud, information security, Digital Twin, Edge Computing, semiconductor chips, and 5G/6G.
On the international stage, 2025 marks a new milestone with VNPT officially launching its "Go Global" strategy, integrating its digital technology products and solutions deeply into the global value chain. The collaboration with Qualcomm to establish the VNPT-Qualcomm Center of Excellence opens up new development opportunities in core technology areas.
In particular, VNPT has affirmed its capacity to master connectivity infrastructure by putting into operation the nearly 4,000 km long VSTN international terrestrial cable line, which is 100% owned by a Vietnamese enterprise. Along with this, it has successfully tested new 5G technologies and deployed internet on airplanes, contributing to the formation of a modern, internationally-oriented digital service ecosystem.
VNPT leaders revealed that by the end of 2025, the company continued to maintain stable and effective growth with many noteworthy indicators. Total consolidated revenue for the entire Group reached VND 61,246 billion, of which the Parent Company's revenue reached VND 48,088 billion, achieving 101.2% of the assigned plan. Consolidated pre-tax profit reached VND 6,598 billion, of which the Parent Company's pre-tax profit reached VND 5,366 billion, achieving 103.7% of the assigned plan. Consolidated contributions to the state budget reached VND 6,078 billion, of which the Parent Company is expected to contribute VND 4,887 billion, achieving 100.8% of the assigned plan.
Performance indicators continued to be sustainably ensured, with the Group's pre-tax return on equity reaching 9.1%, and the parent company's reaching 7.5%. Data output reached 2.8 billion GB, achieving 101% of the plan and increasing by 11.2% compared to the same period last year. 100% employment and stable, relatively good income were ensured for employees, in line with the general standards of state-owned corporations and enterprises.
Concluding the 2021-2025 period, the projected total revenue is VND 287,885 billion, achieving 100% of the assigned plan target; pre-tax profit is projected at VND 31,477 billion, achieving 102% of the assigned plan target; and contributions to the state budget are projected at VND 27,218 billion, achieving 104.5% of the assigned plan target.
"These results affirm the effectiveness of VNPT's restructuring strategy and its shift towards a digital technology group model over the past five years," a VNPT leader stated.
Through its persistent efforts, VNPT was recognized with the title of Hero of Labor in September 2025, affirming its role and position as a leading digital technology group, accompanying the country in the digital era.
