On January 7, the "Homeland Spring 2023" festival took place in Fukuoka City, Japan. As a large-scale activity of the Vietnamese community in Japan, the event attracted more than 70,000 participants, including the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in the Kyushu region in particular and the whole of Japan in general, along with local people.

Vietnamese spirit

The opening ceremony received the attention of local leaders and departments. Governors who could not attend all sent congratulatory letters to the event, including a letter from Mr. Hattori Seitaro, Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture.

In the letter, Governor Seitaro appreciated the Vietnamese community in the Kyushu region for their contributions to the construction and development of Kyushu and he wished that the friendship and cultural traditions of Vietnam and Japan would continue to grow and develop.

Right after the festival's opening performance with the meaningful song "Vietnam's Pride" and a dance performance by the actors and actresses, performed by international students in Fukuoka, Vietnamese Consul General in Fukuoka Vu Chi Mai delivered a speech wishing a Happy New Year, thanking the Vietnamese community for their solidarity and sharing difficulties with the local government and people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Welcoming the Year of the Cat 2023, the Consul General believes that the Vietnamese community in Kyushu in particular and Japan in general will overcome all difficulties, continue to grow stronger and integrate sustainably.

Director Hoang Cong Cuong recreated the atmosphere of Vietnam's Lunar New Year with activities such as welcoming the Kitchen Gods to heaven, banh chung wrapping contest, Tet flower market, asking for the first words of the year, lucky money, Vietnamese folk games...

Besides, there are special and attractive activities such as the final round of the Miss Vietnam - Japan Friendship contest, the final round of the Kyushu Got Talent 2023 contest...

Not only in Japan, on January 6, the Vietnamese Embassy in the US organized the "Homeland Spring" program to celebrate the Year of the Cat 2023. This is the first time this event has been held in person after nearly 3 years of the COVID-19 pandemic, attracting nearly 600 guests, including representatives of the Vietnamese community from many states in the US and American and international friends with ties to Vietnam.

At the ceremony, there were many special performances and attendees enjoyed traditional Vietnamese New Year dishes. Some representatives of Vietnamese people and students shared their happy and emotional feelings when meeting their compatriots in a warm atmosphere imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity.

In Africa, on January 8, the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique organized the "Community Tet" program to celebrate the Year of the Cat 2023. Held for the first time after more than 2 years of being affected by the pandemic, the event attracted a large number of Vietnamese businesses and the local Vietnamese community.

On the same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea organized the "Homeland Spring" program in Seoul, with the participation of about 200 delegates including businessmen, students, workers, multicultural families... representing the Vietnamese community in Korea and some Korean friends.

Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tung said that the community of more than 230,000 Vietnamese people in Korea has grown steadily over the years, participating more and more actively and extensively, and making important contributions to the political , economic and cultural life of the host country.

Some representatives of overseas Vietnamese, the Vietnamese community in Korea and students shared their warm feelings and affirmed to continue to make efforts to contribute more to the activities of the Vietnamese community in Korea towards the Fatherland.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang (Laos) organized a diplomatic reception and community Tet to celebrate the Year of the Cat 2023

Also in early January this year and late December last year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Romania, the Czech Republic, etc. also held joyful gatherings to celebrate the spring for overseas Vietnamese.

Not only the events hosted by the embassy, ​​many Vietnamese associations around the world have organized events on the occasion of Tet. On December 31, 2022, Ambassador Pham Viet Anh, his wife and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands attended the year-end meeting and welcomed the new year 2023 with the "Vietnamese Association in Den Haag and surrounding areas".

What is special is that the local Vietnamese association was established more than 25 years ago, with more than 30 families, a close-knit community that together preserves Vietnamese cultural traditions. Families, including local fiancees, join hands to prepare a feast imbued with village love and neighborliness before the New Year.

Over the years, the "Homeland Spring" festivals abroad have brought valuable spiritual food to those living far away from home, motivating them to study, work and spread the good values ​​of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends. The festival also marks the beginning of a new year full of energy, joy and success for the entire Vietnamese community and local people.

On this occasion, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs , more than 90 Vietnamese representative agencies in countries and territories around the world have coordinated to organize festivals imbued with the colors of the homeland. Coming to the festivals, the Vietnamese community and local people, in addition to directly participating in traditional Vietnamese folk games, can also admire works of art, experience Vietnamese Lunar New Year culture, and enjoy many unique traditional dishes with the soul of Vietnamese cuisine such as pho, bun bo, banh mi, banh trang nuong, etc.
