Echoes of the song about the soldier

Taking place from December 17 to 21 at April 2 Square (Nha Trang City), the Festival of Singing Soldiers and Singing about Soldiers brought to the people and tourists songs and dances praising the Party, the Fatherland, the homeland, the sea and islands, and beautiful images of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers". Through 33 seasons of the festival, it has affirmed that this is a meaningful activity, a place to meet, exchange and contribute to strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people in the land of Agarwood.

Impressive festival

Every year, in December, along with many activities to celebrate the founding anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army and the National Defense Day (December 22), localities, units, schools, and businesses eagerly prepare art programs to participate in the Festival of Singing Soldiers and Singing About Soldiers. The festival, organized by the Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Provincial Military Command, has now entered its 33rd year, affirming the role and significance of this art playground for the spiritual life of soldiers, as well as for a large audience. This year's festival has the participation of nearly 800 non-professional singers and actors from 21 mass art troupes of 9 districts, towns, and cities; military units, schools, and businesses in the province, 4 troupes and 200 singers and actors more than last year. The delegations brought to the festival nearly 110 singing, dancing and music performances praising the Fatherland, the Party, Uncle Ho, the homeland, the sea and islands and the image of the soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army.

Watching the performances of the mass art troupes, the audience all shared the same feeling about the enthusiasm of the singers and actors, because during the festival days, the weather in Nha Trang City was not favorable. On the nights of the performances, there was rain and strong winds, which greatly affected the quality of the troupes' performances, but the audience still got to see performances that were quite well-staged and performed, such as: The Sea Calls (Cam Lam District Mass Art Troupe); Our Fatherland, the Flags Fly (Van Ninh District Mass Art Troupe); The Road Forward (Khanh Son District Mass Art Troupe); The Four Seasons of Flowers - Forever Singing the Military March (Navy Submarine Brigade 189 Mass Art Troupe); Truong Sa Waves (Air Defense Division 377 Mass Art Troupe); Marching Under the Military Flag (Veterans Association of the Province Mass Art Troupe); The Fatherland seen from the sea (mass art troupe of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest State-owned One Member Co., Ltd.)... “Personally, I am very impressed with the serious performance of the troupes participating in the festival. Despite the rain, the troupes all adhered to the performance schedule, took over the stage and performed with all their might. Therefore, the audience was still able to watch quality performances that conveyed emotions and feelings towards the soldiers,” said Ms. Hoang Thi Phuong Nguyen (a tourist from Hai Phong City).

After 4 nights of performances, the 33rd Festival of Singing Soldiers and Singing About Soldiers has ended with beautiful memories. “In general, the troupes invested in the program's structure, clearly expressing the theme of the soldiers "Uncle Ho's Army". The harmony and arrangement of the performances were also invested in and focused on; costumes, props, and scenery were used appropriately in the independent dance performances as well as singing and dancing. This year's festival has the participation of new singers, showing the inheritance of the performing arts activities of the troupes", said Mr. Nguyen Ai Quoc - Head of the festival's Jury.

Most of the programs of the troupes adhered to the ideological content theme, some performances flexibly combined folk elements with modern features; some self-composed performances and independent dances had good artistic quality. “The greatest success of the festival was attracting many participating units and forces, leaving good impressions on the contestants and the audience. Through the festival, the indomitable spirit of the soldiers and the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" were partly expressed. This is a useful playground, an opportunity for mass art troupes to exchange, learn, and share experiences; at the same time, discover new nuclei to nurture as the core force for the cultural and artistic movement of the agency, unit in particular and the province in general", Mr. Dang Quoc Van - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports assessed.

The Festival of Singing Soldiers and Singing About Soldiers is also an activity in a series of cultural and artistic programs to welcome the new year 2025. Thereby, it contributes to propagating and educating revolutionary traditions for the young generation; encouraging and motivating cadres, soldiers and people to continue promoting traditions and building a strong and comprehensive army.
