Amorim continues to cause controversy
"Today we showed that we can beat any team in the Premier League," said coach Amorim. But that was when the home team won, and in Amorim's case, it is ridiculous for a losing team to claim that "they can beat any team".
Even the way Amorim treats people has created a big problem for Man United. Before the match against Arsenal, he removed striker Rasmus Hojlund from the registration list. This decision seems to completely end Hojlund's future just 2 years after he was brought by coach Erik Ten Hag for 75 million euros.
Technically, Coach Amorim's decision was not wrong. Man United's decision to bring in Benjamin Sesko (77 million euros) and keep Zirkzee seems to have ended Hojlund's chances.
But coach Amorim's decision is still considered too cruel. The way Amorim treats Hojlund is similar to what he did with Sancho, Rashford, Antony and Garnacho. That is, he tries to push away players who are not suitable for the team.
Unforeseen consequences
The "Red Devils" leadership knows well the football philosophy of coach Amorim, so when they roll out the red carpet to invite him, they need to have a suitable personnel policy. But football management is a complicated story. And as coach Jurgen Klopp once said: "The results of the season are actually almost shaped from the preparation stage in the summer".
Amorim may be good at planning, but he also needs to support the board in terms of management, especially finance is an extremely important factor. From this perspective, Amorim is destroying Man United day by day.
That is shown by the fact that Man United is completely powerless in liquidating "inventory". Except for Rashford to Barca on a free loan (Barca only pays salary) and players whose contracts have expired like Eriksen, Man United has not been able to liquidate any other star so far.
When entering the summer, the "red devils" leadership set a target of earning 200 million euros from selling Rashford, Sancho, Antony, Garnacho, Malacia. Including Hojlund on the liquidation list increased this target to 250 million euros. But so far, the amount Man United has earned from the transfer market is... 0 dong.
The above players are not too "unsaleable". Antony has always been warmly welcomed by Real Betis, but they only want to borrow him instead of buying him outright for 40 million euros. Chelsea asked to buy Garnacho but only paid 30 million euros, less than half of the 70 million euros Man United asked for. With Sancho, most teams that want him do not want to pay a transfer fee.
Why? Because they know very well that Man United have completely ended their future with these players when Amorim crossed out Antony, Sancho, Hojlund, Malacia and then criticized Garnacho, Rashford in front of the media. As a result, they will try to force down the price.
Look at how other big clubs behave to see how wrong Man United and Amorim are. Liverpool favoured Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, insisting they were "unsellable", and then collected 130 million euros in just one week.
Chelsea also kept hold of Madueke at the FIFA Club World Cup, before selling him to Arsenal for 56 million euros, a profit of 20 million euros compared to when they bought him.
If this continues, Man United's return will be very, very far away.
