Coach Amorim was furious with his players after the defeat. |
According to the Manchester Evening News , the Portuguese manager vented his anger on his players right on the training ground on April 14th.
"Amorim couldn't hide his disappointment at the team's poor form recently, especially with the Europa League second leg against Lyon fast approaching. He reportedly canceled a meeting with the young players and instead held an emergency first-team meeting, where the players were 'severely reprimanded' to the point that no one dared to speak up," the English newspaper revealed.
Furthermore, Amorim also issued an ultimatum to his players: they must strive to improve their performance from now until the end of the season. Anyone who fails to meet the professional standards will be immediately released during the next summer transfer window.
Amorim is working with a squad largely built by his predecessor Erik ten Hag, with most signings coming from the previous three transfer windows. The names added under his tenure, such as Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven, are still too new to make a significant impact.
With a limited summer budget and the Champions League still uncertain, Manchester United's leadership may be forced to sell players who are not a good fit or lack the determination to adapt to Amorim's 3-4-2-1 formation. This makes the threat from the Portuguese manager even more serious than ever.
