Previously, Samsung regularly launched its new smartphones in countries like Spain or the US. This time, the company will launch the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 duo at the first Galaxy Unpacked event taking place in Korea.
The event took place on July 27 at COEX, a convention center in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, which is considered the intersection between Teheran-ro, a creative startup hub, and Bongeunsa, a Buddhist temple.
Samsung says it is changing the direction of its foldable smartphone launches. It plans to hold launch events in culturally significant cities around the world that match the theme of each event. This year, the company will launch its 2023 Galaxy Z series in Seoul, and next year it may take place in another city.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are expected to feature a waterdrop hinge, which will result in less creases and no gaps when folded. Both phones are also rumored to have an IP58 rating for dust and water resistance. The duo is also said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processor, and the Galaxy Z Flip5 will feature a larger secondary display on the back.
