This morning, March 27, at Long Binh commune, the People's Committee of An Phu district, An Giang province coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province to organize the ceremony to announce the export of Keo mango to Korea, and at the same time signed a memorandum of understanding to coordinate the implementation of supporting farmers in the production, linkage and consumption of Keo mango.
This batch of mangoes exported is 18 tons of Keo mangoes to the Korean market. Long Binh Agricultural Cooperative has signed a consumption contract with Hoang Phat Fruit Company Limited. In addition, the Cooperative also cooperates with An Giang Fruit and Vegetable Food Joint Stock Company (ANTESCO) in creating Keo mango material areas for processing.
According to the People's Committee of An Phu district, currently, the total area of fruit trees in the district is more than 2,000 hectares, of which the mango production area is about 1,860 hectares, accounting for over 90% of the district's fruit tree area, mainly concentrated in the communes: Khanh Binh, Khanh An, Phu Huu and Long Binh town, with an output of over 55,000 tons/year. Of which, Keo mango trees have about 300 hectares and grow strongly every year.
Ceremony to announce the export of the first batch of Keo mangoes to Korea
Currently, the mango production area according to the enterprise's standards reaches over 600 hectares, including 61 growing area codes and a Keo mango growing area according to GlobalGAP standards with an area of 365 hectares in Phu Huu and Khanh An communes. In particular, Keo mango products of Long Binh Agricultural Cooperative have been recognized as achieving the 3-star "OCOP Product" certification from 2021 to present.
Exporting 18 tons of mango to Korea
In order for An Phu district’s mangoes to be exported to demanding markets such as the US, Australia, Korea, etc. and to conquer other demanding markets in the world , local authorities, businesses, cooperatives and people have made great efforts through more than 10 years of arduous and challenging negotiations. Mangoes must strictly meet the strict requirements of partners such as pesticide content, harmful insects, traceability, irradiation, etc.
Excited when the first batch of mangoes of the cooperative was exported to Korea, Mr. Huynh Thanh Minh, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Long Binh Agricultural Cooperative said: “Our cooperative has been waiting for this event for a long time, we have sold quality products and negotiated prices, we are very satisfied with this price. Through this event, I highly appreciate the success as well as the expectations of the people. This event contributes to helping people have the motivation to produce better quality products and increase the quantity of products”.
Cooperatives sign consumption linkage contracts with businesses
Through this event, in the coming time, the District People's Committee will continue to create a favorable environment, have policies to support businesses, organizations and people in producing, processing and trading mango products. Promote support for the construction of stable raw material areas, develop sustainable value chain linkages, continue to promote existing production areas, speed up the process of granting codes to remaining growing areas to increase export output in the coming time. At the same time, coordinate with fruit export companies to survey other mango gardens to sign export contracts.
