On the morning of March 28, the interdisciplinary inspection team of Hanh Tin Tay commune (Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai province) organized an inspection and discovered a candy stall in front of the school gate of unknown origin, causing students to show signs of food poisoning.
Initial investigation determined that on March 25, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nhi (Phu Khuong village, Hanh Tin Tay commune), owner of Nhi Ka shop, bought 4 packs of candy in the form of pills, with colorful candy wrappers, no brand name, no origin at Quang Ngai market, each pack weighing 0.5 kg for 50,000 VND/kg to resell at 1,000 VND/4 pills.
However, after students of Hanh Tin Tay Secondary School bought and used the product, in recent days, they have shown signs of nausea, stomachache, and chest pain. The Board of Directors of Hanh Tin Tay Secondary School determined that up to now, 15 students have shown signs of poisoning and have been transferred to Nghia Hanh District Medical Center for examination and health monitoring.
At the time of the inspection by the commune's interdisciplinary team, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nhi had sold this candy to many students and only had 0.8 kg left.
Hanh Tin Tay Commune Police have drawn up a record and reported to Nghia Hanh District Police for monitoring, and at the same time, continue to verify and handle according to regulations.
