On the evening of November 3, in Lai Chau City (Lai Chau Province), the opening ceremony of the first Cultural Festival of Ethnic Groups with a population of less than 10,000 people and Lai Chau Tourism - Culture Week 2023 took place.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed that the Cultural Festival of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people is organized to honor and promote the cultural values of ethnic minorities; contributeto educating the tradition of patriotism, national pride, and strengthening the strength of the great solidarity of ethnic groups.

The event also promotes the efforts of each individual to strive for progress along with the aspirations and determination to build the homeland to become more and more prosperous, civilized and polite. The festival is an ideal destination for domestic and international tourists.

Held for the first time, the festival created a particularly meaningful cultural space. Joy, pride and excitement were evident on the faces of artisans, mass athletes and people of very small ethnic groups. This was an opportunity for them to meet, exchange and share experiences in preserving, maintaining and promoting traditional cultural values.
The festival is an opportunity to introduce and promote the potential and strengths of developing culture, sports, tourism and cultural communication of ethnic groups in the process of innovation, integration and development; contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and all classes of people in the work of preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam.

Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Le Van Luong, expressed his honor and pride when the locality was chosen as the host of the festival.
He affirmed that this is an opportunity for localities to exchange experiences, communicate and learn to strengthen the great national unity bloc; honor and promote the core values of fine traditional culture of 14 ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people from 11 provinces across the country.
Lai Chau, home to 6/10 of the most majestic mountains in the country, along with a system of 32 historical and cultural relics and ranked landscapes and relics. This place is also a bridge between two famous tourist destinations between Sa Pa and Dien Bien Phu, the East and the Northwest. This potential land with friendly and hospitable people is welcoming visitors from near and far to attend the Lai Chau Tourism - Culture Festival and Week in 2023.

The leaders of Lai Chau province hope that during their stay here, delegates and tourists will spend a lot of time experiencing and having the best impressions of the land and people of Lai Chau, the homeland of 4/14 ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people nationwide.
Right after the ceremony, the opening art program of the Festival took place with 3 chapters: Aspiration to rise with the great forest; Sparkling colors of the great forest; Majestic Lai Chau - Happy festival.
The art program selects unique folk songs, folk dances, folk music with strong ethnic identities and some famous songs of provinces with ethnic minorities. Thereby, introducing and promoting culture, beliefs, concepts, changes in life, and quintessential values in music and folk performing arts.
Representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented souvenir flags and flowers to the provinces participating in the Festival.
Through the art of performing folk songs, folk dances, folk music, and traditional folk theater, the segments create vitality amidst majestic nature, stimulating curiosity in a large number of people and tourists.
The first Cultural Festival of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people in Lai Chau province and Lai Chau Tourism - Culture Week 2023 with the theme "Cultural Colors - Convergence and Spread" took place from November 3 to 5 with many cultural, sports and tourism activities attracting people and tourists such as: Performances, introduction of festival excerpts; traditional cultural rituals, Mass Arts Festival; traditional sports competitions; Off-road motorbike racing; Putaleng Open Paragliding Competition...
The festival was attended by people from 11 provinces: Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, Quang Binh and Kon Tum. Including 14 ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people: O Du, Brau, Ro Mam, Pu Peo, Si La, C Ong, Bo Y, Co Lao, Mang, Lo Lo, Chut, Lu, Pa Then and Ngai.

Traffic flow control ensures traffic safety during the festival on roads with high traffic volume.
Traffic police are deployed on all streets to avoid congestion and ensure traffic safety.
During the festival, alcohol concentration checks of vehicle drivers are still maintained regularly to detect violations.
