In 1947, in a battle against the French army led by Squad Leader Ba Hung (commonly known as Mr. Hua Hoa Hung) in Bac Lieu , the unit annihilated many enemies, destroyed many vehicles, became the leading flag of Gia Rai district, and was praised by superiors. After that conversation, musician Tran Kiet Tuong composed the song "Anh Ba Hung" and sent it to the Southern Radio Station. The song is like a story with a cheerful melody and a praising tone: "There is Anh Ba Hung, who is a real farmer/ He served in the army for three years and just received a medal/ Sau always praised him/ That little guy is smart/ He praised, he always praised him/ He said he was talented".
During his lifetime, musician Tran Kiet Tuong once talked about the materials he used to compose the song. He said that this song has a strong Southern sound because he borrowed the melody of the folk song “Con chim manh manh”.
Thanks to the cheerful, memorable lyrics and closeness to folk songs, the song “Anh Ba Hung” quickly “covered” all the provinces of the South. When the song became famous throughout the liberated areas, Mr. Hua Hoa Hung did not dare to admit that he was the character in the song for fear of affecting the organization and possibly endangering himself. It was not until he retired that he officially admitted that he was the prototype in the famous song of the past.
