Real Betis determined to recruit Antony. |
According to ABC Sports , negotiations between Manchester United and Real Betis this week are progressing well. The "Red Devils" leadership proposed a joint ownership deal, allowing Antony to return to Real Betis on loan next season, with a mandatory purchase clause in 2026.
The interesting point of this proposal is that MU will share ownership of the player with Real Betis, helping the La Liga team only have to pay an amount of about 10-15 million euros. Instead of buying outright, Real Betis can buy part of Antony's ownership, with a commitment to continue paying to own more player shares in the following seasons.
If they want to fully own Antony, Betis can pay an additional 20 million euros in the next transfer window in the summer of 2026. This option is welcomed by Betis, because it helps them avoid La Liga's Financial Fair Play Law, and the total amount the club has to pay to own Antony is only 35 million euros.
La Liga media believe Betis are confident of completing the Antony deal early this week. Initially, MU demanded a fee of 50 million euros for any club wanting Antony. This is a big obstacle for Betis as the team does not have a good financial foundation.
MU also made it clear that they did not want to let Antony leave on loan again - they only wanted to sell him outright to invest in other goals. However, after considering the situation, the "Red Devils" chose a more sympathetic option.
The Brazilian striker himself also wants to continue his association with Betis after a very successful 2024/25 season. Betis set a world transfer record in 1998, when they spent more than 25 million euros to sign Brazilian player Denilson. To date, this deal remains the most expensive contract in the club's history.
