Real Betis are determined to sign Antony. |
According to ABC Sports , negotiations between Manchester United and Real Betis this week are progressing well. The Red Devils' management has proposed a co-ownership deal, allowing Antony to return to Real Betis on loan next season, with a mandatory purchase clause in 2026.
The interesting point in this proposal is that MU would share ownership of the player with Real Betis, allowing the La Liga team to pay only around 10-15 million euros. Instead of buying outright, Real Betis could purchase a portion of Antony's ownership, with a commitment to continue paying to acquire more shares in the player in subsequent seasons.
If Betis wants to acquire Antony outright, they can pay an additional €20 million in the next transfer window in summer 2026. This option is favored by Betis because it helps them avoid La Liga's Financial Fair Play regulations, and the total amount the club would have to pay to acquire Antony would only be €35 million.
La Liga media believe Betis are confident of completing the Antony deal this week. Initially, Manchester United demanded a fee of €50 million for any club interested in Antony. This was a major obstacle for Betis, given their limited financial resources.
MU also made it clear they did not want Antony to leave on loan again – they only wanted to sell him outright to invest in other targets. However, after considering the situation, the "Red Devils" chose a more amicable option.
The Brazilian striker himself wants to continue his association with Betis after a very successful first half of the 2024/25 season. Betis set a world transfer record in 1998 when they spent over 25 million euros to sign Brazilian player Denilson. To date, this remains the most expensive signing in the club's history.
