Antony turned down Bayern

Despite three disappointing years in the Premier League, Antony is still sought after by Bayern Munich on the final day of the 2025 summer transfer window.

Antony was contacted by Bayern in the summer of 2026.

According to the Brazilian player, coach Vincent Kompany personally called him at 11pm to lure him to the Allianz Arena. However, Antony affirmed that he had kept his promise to Real Betis before and did not want to change his decision.

The former Ajax star told Globo Esporte : "Honestly, that offer shook me. Bayern is a giant, and Kompany respects me a lot. He said he liked my playing style for a long time."

However, Antony decided to turn down the Bundesliga to prioritize his family: "The most important thing is my son. Lorenzo loves this city, loves life in Spain. When the whole family goes to Brazil for summer vacation, he always asks: 'When are we going back to Spain, Dad?'".

The Brazilian winger insists he has no grudges against anyone at MU and wants to close the old chapter. This season, Antony scored 4 goals and had 2 assists for Betis, but was not called up by coach Carlo Ancelotti to the Brazil squad in November for the 2026 World Cup.

The 25-year-old star had a brilliant half-year at Betis last season, a period that helped him revive his career after a series of dark days at Old Trafford. Returning to MU, Antony is no longer in coach Ruben Amorim's plans and described this as the worst period of his life, to the point of having to stay in a hotel near the airport because he could not stand the pressure.

It wasn't until the final hours of the transfer window that Antony was allowed to leave when MU reached an agreement to sell him to Betis for 21.7 million pounds - a figure too small compared to the 85.5 million pounds the "Red Devils" spent in 2022.
