APEC Innovation – a launch pad for student startup ideas

APEC Entrepreneurship Research and Training Institute, together with entrepreneurs and businesses, in collaboration with the School of Business - National Economics University, organized the Closing and Awarding Ceremony of the First Student Creative Startup Idea Competition - APEC Innovation, 2024 - 2025.

Speaking at the program, Master Nguyen Thi Minh Thu, Deputy Director of APEC Entrepreneurship Institute, Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition, said that the First APEC Innovation Student Startup Ideas Competition, 2024 - 2025, is a playground to promote the intellectual potential, creative thinking, new thinking and dynamism, and aspirations of students - the future owners of the country in building and defending the fatherland.

Master Nguyen Thi Minh Thu, Deputy Director of APEC Entrepreneurship Institute, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, spoke at the closing and award ceremony.

At the same time, the contest hopes to nurture, develop, perfect and realize creative and unique startup ideas into successful startup projects, contributing to socio-economic development; equip knowledge and skills about startups; promote confidence, initiative and creativity in students; create an environment for students to form and realize startup ideas; create connections between schools, students and businesses and entrepreneurs at home and abroad.

After nearly 5 months since its launch, the contest received 1,191 startup ideas from thousands of students from 81 universities and colleges across the country. Of which, Hanoi has students from 45 schools, Ho Chi Minh City has students from 17 schools, the Central region has 2 schools, and the Northern region has 18 schools.

Affirming the significance of the competition, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Xuan, Chairman of Haru Board of Directors, said: "APEC Innovation has created an opportunity to explore new, creative and innovative ideas among students and through the process of accompanying the judging, we have committed to accompanying an idea (even though that idea did not win the jury's award), but this demonstrates the high practicality of the students."

APEC Innovation attracts the participation of hundreds of entrepreneurs and businesses with innovative startup ideas.

The ideas were spread across 5 fields with 144 entries in the field of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; 138 entries in the field of Health and Healthcare, 405 entries in the field of Industry and Technology; 334 entries in the field of Tourism Financial Services and 170 entries in the field ofEducation .

After nearly 2 months of continuous work, the Organizing Committee mobilized 70 judges to participate in scoring through 4 rounds and selecting the best ideas. At the Closing and Award Ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 3 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, 8 Third Prizes and 14 Encouragement Prizes to the projects participating in the competition.

Recognizing and praising the strong influence of the competition, Deputy Director of the Department of Students, Ministry of Education and Training Tran Van Dat affirmed that the first APEC Innovation, 2024 - 2025, has truly become a useful playground to help students have the opportunity to express themselves.

After the Award Ceremony, the APEC Entrepreneurship Research and Training Institute and the Competition Organizing Committee will organize a Workshop to introduce some excellent startup ideas to domestic and international organizations, entrepreneurs and businesses.
