Mikel Arteta and his team had a hard-fought victory over home team Brentford to take the top spot in the Premier League.
Right after the opening whistle, Arsenal pushed up their attacking formation. Brentford had anticipated this and had already prepared plans to neutralize the Gunners' attacks. They even almost opened the scoring in the 12th minute when goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale lost the ball in front of the goal.
Arsenal tried to finish but most of their shots were off target. The most notable incident in the first half was Leandro Trossard's header. However, VAR ruled out the goal for offside.

In the second half, Brentford rose up. They put pressure back into Arsenal's half. Therefore, the visitors did not create many chances. However, Kai Havertz became the hero for the Gunners when he scored in the 89th minute. Bukayo Saka crossed the ball towards the far left post of Brentford's goal. Havertz ran behind the home team's defense to head the ball close to the goal.
Arsenal won 1-0. They surpassed Man City to take the top spot, with 30 points. Before that, the blue half of Manchester drew 1-1 when hosting Liverpool at home.
In another notable match, Chelsea suffered a 1-4 defeat to Newcastle. The home team's goals were scored by Alexander Isak, Jamaal Lascelles, Joelinton and Anthony Gordon. Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling scored for The Blues. The London team collapsed in the second half after the opponent scored 2 consecutive goals and lost a man when Reece James received a red card.
Newcastle temporarily took Man Utd's 6th place, three points away from the top 4. Chelsea is stuck in 10th place with 16 points.
