“Hanoi Voice” kicks off new season with many exciting challenges

The music competition "Hanoi Singing Voice 2025" officially launched with a more challenging format and expanded global enrollment.

The “Hanoi Singing Voice” contest, formerly known as the “Hanoi Television Singing Voice” contest, has been held since 1994. It is a music contest on television with a unique mark, gathering and selecting outstanding and talented faces and voices.

Many singers who emerged from the contest have grown up and become famous artists and singers admired by the public, such as People's Artist Mai Hoa, Doctor - vocal lecturer Anh Tho, People's Artist Hong Hanh, Meritorious Artist Phuong Anh, Meritorious Artist Minh Thu, Meritorious Artist Vu Thang Loi, singers: Ho Quynh Huong, Khanh Linh, To Minh Thang, Pham Van Giap, Hoang Quyen...

In 2025, the competition has many new features to create a high-class music playground for the public. For the first time, the competition expands its participants globally, welcoming all contestants around the world , regardless of nationality.

Journalist Nguyen Kim Khiem, General Director - Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Radio and Television, Head of the competition's steering committee, said that Hanoi is currently in the process of shaping itself into a creative and globally connected city. In the context of increasingly vibrant international cultural and artistic activities in the capital, expanding the competition to a global scale not only helps promote Vietnamese music, but also contributes to bringing the image of the capital closer to international friends.

Despite the global scope, the Organizing Committee still requires all contestants, including international contestants, to perform and communicate in Vietnamese throughout the rounds. This requirement not only demonstrates the spirit of honoring Vietnamese culture but also encourages international singers to experience and spread the beauty of the Vietnamese language to friends around the world.

The new highlight in the format of “Hanoi Singing Voice 2025” is the challenges designed to be closely related to music such as improvisational singing, limited-time remixing, performing with musical instruments, etc., promising to bring dramatic competitions, increasing entertainment and interaction, giving contestants the opportunity to demonstrate many skills other than vocals.

Explaining this new point, journalist Thai Hang, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, said that “Hanoi Singing Voice” is a competition that emphasizes professionalism, but this year, the Organizing Committee added music challenges (games) to create a new, more lively and closer look to the television audience. This is also the trend of many international music competitions today.

According to journalist Thai Hang, the Organizing Committee has calculated that the game part does not affect the artistic value but opens up a space for contestants to express their personality, ability to behave and flexibility on stage. The combination of musical expertise and multi-talent aims to bring an exciting season, contributing to making "Hanoi Singing Voice 2025" an attractive art - entertainment - television event.

Contestants of the “Voice of Hanoi 2025” contest will perform in three styles: chamber music, folk music, and pop music; register from September 19 to October 25, via the HANOI ON App.

The preliminary round takes place from October 25 to November 4. The semi-finals will be held in the following styles: Chamber style on November 14, pop style on November 15, and folk style on November 16.

In particular, this year's competition has 4 final nights. Of which, the chamber music final will take place on November 27, the pop music final will take place on November 30, the folk music final will take place on December 3 and the ranking and awarding final will take place on December 9.

The jury and professional advisors of the contest include famous artists, musicians, singers, and leading vocal experts, such as: People's Artist Quang Vinh, Chairman of the Hanoi Music Association; People's Artist Quoc Hung, Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music; People's Artist Ha Thuy; People's Artist Mai Hoa; People's Artist Thanh Lam; People's Artist Tan Minh; singer Anh Tho; singer Ho Quynh Huong; singer Khanh Linh; musician Le Minh Son...

The Special Prize of “Hanoi Singing 2025” has a total value of up to 600 million VND. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 3 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 3 third prizes.
