In a handwritten letter sent to the Board of Directors, management staff and all staff of Saigon Thuong Tin Bank ( Sacombank ), Ms. Nguyen Duc Thach Diem, General Director, informed "goodbye to the position of General Director - the person directly steering the operating ship.
She wrote that she "dared to do it, devoted herself to that journey - the journey of restructuring, recovery and strong growth of Sacombank. Nearly 8 years, not too long... I understand, every journey has an end. Over the past time, I have been trusted, appointed and empowered by the Board of Directors to create a strong, united, enthusiastic collective like the strong warriors of Sacombank" - Ms. Diem stated in the letter.
Although leaving the "hot seat", she continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors, planning a new direction for Sacombank in the post-restructuring period.
Sacombank has not officially announced the CEO's resignation.
Ms. Nguyen Duc Thach Diem has nearly 8 years of experience as CEO at Sacombank.
Ms. Nguyen Duc Thach Diem was born in 1973, has many years of experience in the field of economics - finance - banking, started working at Sacombank since 2002.
Ms. Diem has held positions in the fields of accounting, credit, customer service, corporate customers, internal control inspection, debt settlement and has had 11 years in management and operation roles at Transaction Offices, Branch Operations Departments, Ho Chi Minh City Regional Office, the entire South Central & Central Highlands region and the entire Sacombank system.
Before being appointed as Acting General Director, then General Director since 2017, Ms. Diem was Deputy General Director in charge of debt settlement activities - one of the key activities that Sacombank is focusing on implementing according to the orientation of the post-merger bank restructuring project approved by the State Bank.
On the morning of May 21, as soon as Ms. Diem's resignation letter was revealed, Sacombank's STB shares jumped to the ceiling price of 42,250 VND/share, with the matched volume in a short period reaching nearly 22 million units.
Although the increase cooled down later, STB was still among the group of banking stocks with the strongest increase and highest liquidity of the session. In the afternoon session, STB still increased by more than 5%, commonly traded in the range of 41,500 - 41,750 VND/share, with a matched volume of more than 30.9 million units.
