Bac Ai, Thuan Bac: Schools focus on reviewing for high school graduation exam in 2023

More than 1 month to go until the 2023 high school graduation exam. Along with schools across the province, schools in Bac Ai and Thuan Bac districts are currently entering the final stage of reviewing for grade 12 students, practicing test-taking skills according to the reference test questions of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) to help them master knowledge and test-taking skills to achieve the highest results.

In the 2022-2023 school year, Bac Ai Secondary and High School has 68 grade 12 students. The school has implemented review and tutoring activities since the beginning of the school year. At the same time, the school has allowed students to register for optional graduation exam combinations to organize review according to registered subjects. Classifying and orienting exam subjects early will help students review effectively as a basis for admission to colleges and universities. Based on the number of registered students, the school has developed a specific review plan for each exam group and student group, dividing classes according to ability, good and excellent students will be reviewed according to the advanced program to participate in university admission.

To help students achieve the best results, the school has assigned experienced and highly qualified teachers to review and supplement knowledge for students with average and weak academic performance in the afternoons and evenings. Pi Nang Dao, a student of class 12A2, Bac Ai Secondary and High School, shared: To prepare well for the upcoming exam, teachers have focused on reviewing the basic knowledge of grades 12, 10 and 11 for students. In class, I focus on listening to the teachers' lectures, and at home, I review more to ensure the best for the upcoming high school exam. Teacher Nguyen Ngoc Dung, Vice Principal of Bac Ai Secondary and High School, said: To help students master knowledge, the school has proactively innovated teaching methods, focusing on reviewing basic knowledge, giving students practice tests in the form of sample questions from the Ministry of Education and Training , practicing skills in doing exercises, skills in quickly answering multiple choice questions, and at the same time guiding students to self-study to achieve maximum scores.

For Pi Nang Tac Ethnic Boarding High School, this school year the school has 2 12th grade classes with 58 students. To best prepare for the exam, the school has focused on reviewing 3 compulsory subjects: Math, Literature, English and subjects in the Social Sciences and Natural Sciences groups. With the support of the program "Waves and Computers for Children", the school is provided with computers for teaching, students are supported with phones and tablets to facilitate the teaching and learning process. During the direct teaching process in class, the school applies the teaching method using smart TVs connected to the internet and phones, tablets to help students easily look up exam questions online, solve exam questions online right in the classroom, thereby helping them easily absorb the knowledge they have learned. Teacher To Dinh Tuyen, a Literature teacher, said: This year's high school exam is about to take place, currently the school's teachers are urgently reviewing to consolidate knowledge for students, focusing on students with average and above average scores to help them maintain good results and further train students with good academic performance to achieve high results in the upcoming university and college entrance exams.

The 2023 high school graduation exam in Bac Ai district has 126 grade 12 students registered to take the exam, organized in a stable manner as in previous years. Candidates will take 4 out of 5 compulsory exams including: Math, Literature, Foreign Language and choose 1 of 2 combined exams: Natural Sciences (with components Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civic Education). Based on the structure of the sample exam set issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, professional groups and teams of schools will implement enhanced teaching sessions, review knowledge of grades 11 and 12 for grade 12 students, then test and evaluate according to the orientation of each subject of the Department of Education and Training. With the efforts and initiative of teachers and students in reviewing, it is believed that students in Bac Ai district will enter the 2023 high school graduation exam with a strong mentality and achieve the highest results. Thereby, helping students more easily orient their studies and future careers.

In Thuan Bac district, with the goal of achieving a graduation rate of over 97%, Phan Boi Chau High School is actively reviewing to help students master knowledge in order to achieve the highest results in the high school graduation exam held next June.

In the 2022-2023 school year, Phan Boi Chau High School has 131 12th grade students eligible to take the high school graduation exam; of which, 111 students chose the Social Science group exam and 20 students chose the Natural Science group exam. In parallel with the regular study, from the beginning of February, the school's Board of Directors has implemented a plan, organized class arrangements, and assigned experienced and highly qualified teachers to review and consolidate knowledge for students. Accordingly, for independent exam subjects including Math, Literature, and Foreign Language, the school has increased review time compared to other subjects with a duration of 4 periods/week; for exam subjects in the group, the duration is 2 periods/week.

The review work is focused on by subject teachers to ensure the content is close to the textbook program, avoiding spreading out, causing difficulties for students in the learning process. Teacher Tai Hai Long, Physics teacher, said: In addition to fully conveying knowledge related to the 12th grade program, I also update new information, exam questions from previous years, then select some questions to make illustrative exam questions for students to get acquainted with, avoiding confusion before entering the official exam. Due to the multiple-choice test format, students are required to read the content of the questions carefully, classify knowledge from easy to difficult, and avoid doing the test based on feelings. After the review time, most students are quite diligent, basically completing the questions given by the teacher.

Along with that, since mid-April, the school has organized 3 days of mock exams to assess students' abilities; at the same time, promptly overcome shortcomings to have appropriate review and teaching methods, build groups with students with good ability and above to support weak students to grasp the lesson content before entering the official exam. Student Dao Thi Ngoc Hau, in Bac Son commune, shared: Up to now, grade 12 has basically completed the study program and is focusing highly on the exam. I chose to take the Social Science exam, through the recent mock exam, I have a basic grasp of the exam structure, with the enthusiastic support of teachers and friends, helping me to be confident and expect high results in the upcoming exam.

Teacher Tran Van Bang, Vice Principal in charge of Phan Boi Chau High School, said: Currently, all preparations for the exam are being carried out properly. In addition to review activities, the content and regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training have been disseminated to students by teachers. The school also directs homeroom teachers to regularly meet and discuss with parents of students to proactively coordinate with the school to encourage students to focus on reviewing, aiming for the highest results in the graduation exam.
