This is the main content of the AI Education Curriculum Outline (2025 version) released by the Beijing Education Commission at the end of June.

The program consists of three main pillars: AI awareness, AI applications, and AI-related ethics and social responsibility. The goal is to help students develop the ability to think innovatively, solve problems, and use AI wisely and responsibly.

Schools can flexibly deploy AI courses independently or integrate them into subjects such as Information Technology, Science , Integrated Practice, or Technology. However, the program design needs to ensure connectivity and avoid duplication.

Ms. Li Yuxin, Principal of Bright Horizon Foreign Language Primary School, said that the new guidelines will facilitate the construction of an AI education system that spans from primary to secondary school. Professor Zheng Qinhua, working at Beijing Normal University, emphasized: “Schools need to orient AI courses to closely follow the goal of comprehensive education.”

According to Professor Zheng, primary school should focus on experience and awareness, secondary school on basic knowledge, and high school on promoting innovation and strategic understanding of AI. This will be the key driving force in national development.
