On November 5, according to information from Bach Mai Hospital, after receiving a request from Lai Chau General Hospital to support emergency treatment for a child suspected of rat poison poisoning, the hospital immediately sent a team of doctors to Lai Chau.
The working group consisted of 6 officers, including doctors from the Poison Control Center, Hematology-Blood Transfusion Center, Pediatric Center, Institute of Mental Health, and Pharmacy Department.
Through online consultation, doctors from the Poison Control Center proposed initial emergency treatment methods for the child patient.
According to information from the leaders of Giang Ma Kindergarten and Lai Chau General Hospital, after being taken to Lai Chau General Hospital for first aid, the children's health is now stable. In the next 24 to 72 hours, the children will continue to be monitored at the hospital to ensure their health.
A leader of the People's Committee of Giang Ma commune, Tam Duong district informed that the rat poison was ordered online by a teacher of the school, and on the afternoon of November 4, she opened it to use to kill rats at the school's warehouse.
This warehouse is connected to the 25-36 month old class and the 5-6 year old class. However, after using it, the teacher forgot to notify the teachers of the classes, which led to the above incident.
Currently, samples of the children suspected of accidentally eating rat poison have been sent to the Central Government for testing to determine the cause./.
