Silver prices recorded a slight increase of about 0.41% to $30.70/ounce, mainly due to the announcement by President-elect Donald Trump to impose import tariffs on countries such as Canada, Mexico and China. This decision has created concerns about the future of global trade, increased uncertainty in financial markets and prompted investors to seek silver as a safe-haven asset, hedging against risks in times of uncertainty, similar to the previous trend for gold.
The Dollar Index closed yesterday's session up 0.67%, reaching 106.45 points, recording the strongest increase in nearly 4 weeks. The stronger USD has made the price of precious metals more expensive. Silver prices are expected to continue to fluctuate amid escalating geopolitical tensions, especially in the Middle East, and especially Syria.
