Economic - Budget Committee of the Provincial People's Council works with the People's Committee of Dong Ha City

This morning, April 25, Head of the Economic - Budget Committee of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Anh worked with the People's Committee of Dong Ha City on the process of developing the Project to classify Dong Ha city to meet the standards of a type II urban area; the Urban Development Program of Dong Ha city until 2045.

Summarizing the Project on classifying Dong Ha City to meet the standards of a type II urban area, the representative of Dong Ha City People's Committee said that the project was developed based on the Quang Tri Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister of the province in Decision No. 1737/QD-TTg dated December 29, 2023. Dong Ha City is determined to meet the criteria of a type II urban area by 2025.

On June 15, 2023, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province also approved the Adjustment of the General Planning of Dong Ha City until 2045 in Decision No. 1234/QD-UBND, with the goal of developing the city to meet the criteria of a type II urban area.

Thus, the construction and development of Dong Ha City into a type II urban area is consistent with the planning of Quang Tri province and the national urban classification plan for the period 2021-2030, consistent with the urban development situation after 19 years of construction and development from a type III urban area (2005).

Dong Ha City being recognized as a type II urban area will contribute to promoting the city's stronger development as well as creating a driving force to spread to the province's urban system and the urban system of the North Central and Central Coast regions.

Compared with the criteria for urban classification stipulated in Resolution 1210/2016/NQ-UBTVQH13 and Resolution 26/2022/UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on urban classification, Dong Ha City has fully met the necessary conditions to propose recognition as a type II urban area.

Therefore, the establishment of the Urban Classification Project of Dong Ha City to meet the standards of a Type II urban area is necessary and has important significance in enhancing the position, promoting the development and economic restructuring as well as investing in the construction and development of civilized, modern and sustainable urban infrastructure, creating a driving force to promote the development of the industrial and service sectors. At the same time, it is also the aspiration of the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Tri province and Dong Ha City after many years of efforts.

Concluding the meeting, Head of the Economic - Budget Committee of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Anh proposed that the People's Committee of Dong Ha City adjust the name, supplement the content, rebuild the structure and layout of the resolution, and submit it to the Provincial People's Council for consideration and approval.
