The Standing Committee of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committees met to discuss the merger of administrative units of the two provinces.

(GLO)- On the afternoon of April 26, at the Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee Headquarters (Quy Nhon City), the Standing Committee of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Committee of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee held a Conference to implement the Central Government's policy on merging provincial-level administrative units.

The working session was chaired by comrades: Ho Quoc Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Binh Dinh province; Ho Van Nien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Gia Lai province.

Attending the working session on behalf of Gia Lai province were also comrades: Chau Ngoc Tuan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Rah Lan Chung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Ngoc Luong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and comrades in the Standing Committee of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee.

On the side of Binh Dinh province, there were comrades: Le Kim Toan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Pham Anh Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and comrades in the Standing Committee of the Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee.

At the conference, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan provided preliminary information on the Project to rearrange administrative units of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces.

Accordingly, after merging and consolidating Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces, the new Gia Lai province will have an area of ​​21,576.5 km², a population of nearly 3.6 million people, and is expected to have 135 commune-level administrative units (including 110 communes and 25 wards). The political-administrative center of the new Gia Lai province is expected to be located in Quy Nhon city (currently Binh Dinh province).

In the spirit of solidarity and high unity, comrades in the Standing Committee of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee and Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, together with comrades in the Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of the two provinces, contributed ideas to complete the draft Project on rearranging administrative units of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces.

At the same time, participate and contribute opinions on the principles of organizational arrangement and staff assignment, establish the Steering Committee for the merger of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces; establish sub-committees to prepare for the organization of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Congress (new).

Speaking at the conference, Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung and Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary Ho Van Nien added: This is the second working session between the Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of the two provinces. Previously, there was a working session between the Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of the two provinces held in Gia Lai. The Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of the two localities discussed and reached consensus and high agreement with the contents presented at this conference.

Based on the results of the conference this afternoon, the Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of the two provinces will direct the functional agencies of the two localities to closely coordinate to complete the draft Project on the arrangement of administrative units of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces to submit to the Central Government before May 1, 2025. At the same time, reach consensus on the principles of arranging the organizational apparatus and assigning cadres.

Thereby, ensuring that the new apparatus after the merger and consolidation of the two provinces will promote effectiveness and efficiency in operations, unite and create new momentum, new spirit, new strength to bring Gia Lai province (new) to develop rapidly, becoming a new growth pole of the country.
