The higher you go, the thicker the ice gets, especially in areas sheltered from the wind. "Due to the high mountain terrain, Fansipan has had ice many times this winter, but this time it is the thickest and longest lasting. After the ice melts, Fansipan will have a beautiful sea of clouds," said the leader of the Management Board of the tourist area at the top of Fansipan.
At the Great Buddha at 2,900 m, about 200 m from the summit, the ice is thinner.
Trees, walls, and cliffs are covered in a white layer of ice. If the ice lasts for many days, it can cause the vegetation on the mountaintop to wither and die.
By 8:30, the temperature gradually increased to about minus 1 degree Celsius, the ice gradually melted.
It is forecasted that in the coming days, the temperature on Fansipan peak will remain below zero at night, and frost may still appear. Many tourists flock to Fansipan to take pictures of the ice and sea of clouds after the ice melts.
