Entering the 9th year, Ha Nam journalists, together with the press nationwide, participated in the National Press Award on Party Building named Golden Hammer and Sickle. “The award has affirmed the value, attractiveness, and spread of the work of Party building, political system building, and team building; at the same time, it affirmed the profound political awareness, professional ethics, and steadfast revolutionary heart of journalists nationwide, worthy of Uncle Ho's teaching: "Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers".
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made this statement at the 8th National Golden Hammer and Sickle Award ceremony on the evening of February 2, 2024 in Hanoi. This time, the National Award Organizing Committee received 2,216 works, an increase of 184 works compared to 2022. From 120 works selected by the Preliminary Council, the National Final Council selected outstanding works to award 6 A prizes, 12 B prizes, 18 C prizes, 6 Special prizes and 30 Encouragement prizes. Ha Nam Newspaper has a 3-part series of articles "Arousing revolutionary ideals, aspirations for dedication of young party members - Issues of concern" won the Special prize and the Outstanding work award on innovation and improvement of the quality of political and ideologicaleducation work of the National Press Awards.
According to the Steering Committee of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award in Ha Nam province (hereinafter referred to as the award), in the 2023 season, the whole province has 122 works submitted that are eligible to participate in the award. Based on the review and screening, the Provincial Steering Committee decided to reward 2 groups; voted for 1 work to win the A prize, 1 work to win the B prize, 3 works to win the C prize and 4 works to win the Encouragement prize. These are works that converge and crystallize the passion, intelligence, courage and demonstrate the exploration, creative work with sharp political thinking, professional conscience and social responsibility, and noble love for the homeland and country of Ha Nam journalists.
In fact, right after the launching ceremony of the 2023 award, following the direction of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Provincial Journalists Association, the provincial press agencies, Party committees at all levels, and authorities of districts, towns, and cities have developed plans to propagate, encourage, motivate, and create conditions for cadres, party members, union members, association members, professional and non-professional journalists of the province to actively respond and participate; considering participation in the Award as an important matter, a criterion for evaluating emulation for cadres and party members in Party building work, professional work of individuals, collectives, and units; a forum to express the viewpoints, theories, beliefs of the people and the rich practical activities of our Party...
However, Party building is a difficult topic of journalism, requiring writers to have knowledge and understanding of the Party. To have quality journalistic works for the Award, writers must know how to choose good topics, current events; promptly reflect all aspects of Party building work in the new period; must have a deep insight, go to the bottom of the problem; must have a true representation of the characteristics of the type and genre of journalism... There are many necessary and sufficient factors for journalists when they have thought about how the topic needs to be implemented, in how long, how many people will participate with them in the process of working; who will participate in solving situations arising in practice with thorny topics, politically sensitive... Then there is the post-production of the work, how to write, how to comment, how to analyze the information the author has collected so that the work is both combative, Party-oriented, and popular. That is, the work is not only for those who do Party work to read, but also for all classes of people to understand, find it interesting, and find the issues raised, analyzed, and proposed solutions feasible and suitable for current practical conditions at the grassroots level.
Over the past years, the impact of the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on all areas of life. This is the period when journalists become soldiers on the front lines against the pandemic. In addition to delving into the realities of life in areas where people are locked down to places where life is in a new normal state, journalists have discovered many interesting issues or issues arising from the pandemic. That is the spirit of community solidarity, under the leadership and direction of Party committees, authorities and the participation of the entire political system, contributing to repelling the epidemic; that is the creative and safe anti-epidemic handling solutions of localities... Then, there are the corrupt violations of a number of officials in the process of implementing the anti-Covid-19 campaign...
The pandemic has been controlled and completely ended, creating conditions for the economy to recover and society to return to a new normal life. But this is an extremely difficult time for businesses and workers as the number of businesses announcing temporary suspension of operations and bankruptcy is increasing day by day. Prices of goods are increasing, people's lives are facing difficulties... The challenges for local Party committees and authorities are becoming more and more severe. These issues arise in the work of developing the Party, building a contingent of cadres, and building clean and strong grassroots Party organizations, revealing many points of concern. That is, the situation of young Party members asking to leave the Party, being removed from the Party, and being expelled from the Party is becoming more and more complicated, significantly affecting the work of developing Party members in the locality. The issue of culture, ethics and lifestyle of a part of the people is deteriorating, leading to many consequences. Advantages and difficulties in implementing the Party's Resolution on agricultural, farmer and rural development; The policy of merging villages, hamlets, communes, wards... has had a significant impact on the grassroots cadre team...
But under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee, with high will and determination, Ha Nam has achieved many important achievements in socio-economic development. In 2023, the economic growth rate reached 9.41%, making it one of the localities with high growth rates in the Red River Delta; one of 18 provinces with self-balancing budgets. This is the material that helps journalists carry out their plans when participating in the Award. Through this, the press has demonstrated its true role and function in Party building work: Contributing to propagating the Party's policies, guidelines, and Resolutions to the People, while performing the function of social supervision and criticism; Participating in the fight against ideological, moral, and lifestyle degradation, "self-evolution", "self-transformation" within the Party; Contributing to protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting to refute the wrong and distorted arguments of hostile forces...
Therefore, the Steering Committee of the Award affirmed: "The Golden Hammer and Sickle Award has contributed to raising awareness of Party building work among cadres, party members and people; continuing to strengthen the flesh-and-blood relationship between the Party and the people, thereby contributing to the completion of political tasks and socio-economic development of the locality."
