Indonesian newspaper speaks bitterly about Doan Van Hau

On March 11, Coach Troussier announced the list of 33 players of the Vietnam National Team to prepare for two important matches with the Indonesian National Team in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia. Therefore, the Indonesian press has reported heavily on this list.

In its article, CNN used Doan Van Hau as a headline. The title of the article is: “Vietnam’s ‘butcher’ defender injured, absent from match against Indonesia”.

In its article, CNN cited information from the Vietnamese press about Van Hau's case. That is, the defender of CAHN Club suffered an injury that required surgery and forced him to take a long break from playing.

The Indonesian press spoke bitterly, calling Van Hau a butcher because the player from Thai Binh had previously injured Evan Dimas in the 2019 SEA Games final. In that match, Indonesia lost and Evan Dimas had to sit in a wheelchair to receive his medal.

Although Van Hau is injured, Coach Troussier still has other left-backs to replace him, namely Ngoc Bao, Tuan Tai, Giap Tuan Duong, Minh Trong, Van Khang, and even Viet Hung. However, in terms of comprehensiveness, the above faces are still not as good as Van Hau.

According to the plan, the Vietnam national team will gather on March 13. Coach Troussier and his team will practice until March 19 and then go to Indonesia to prepare to face this team on March 21.
