Vietnam U23 temporarily leads Group C of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers after the first round of matches.

On the evening of September 3, U23 Vietnam had a 2-0 victory over U23 Bangladesh in the first match of Group C of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team did not play too dominantly but still scored twice thanks to Ngoc My and Viktor Le.

Previously, U23 Yemen also defeated U23 Singapore with a score of 2-1.

With these results, U23 Vietnam temporarily took the lead in Group C after the first round of matches. Dinh Bac and his teammates have the same 3 points as Yemen but are ranked higher because of a better goal difference (+2 compared to +1).

Singapore and Bangladesh ranked 3rd and 4th respectively.

In the next match on September 6, Vietnam will face Singapore and Yemen will meet Bangladesh.

The 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers will feature 44 teams, divided into 11 groups. After the qualifying matches, the 11 group winners and the four best runners-up will qualify for the finals in Saudi Arabia.
